The brown & orange #8s are Lancer open cockpit Porsches that were very popular on the West Coast. The coupe was more popular on the East Coast. O/S has molds for both Lancer bodies.

"yes that is a real Lancer Elfin!"
Joe, Joe, Joe. Memory cells get tired at our advanced age...
It is a RUSSKIT Elfin...
This body was also copied by at least two back-East small companies (did I say Mini Wheels?), and here is one you painted as a sample for the Boob, Bob Rule, about 40 million years ago...
Here is a real Russkit Elfin, that you lettered for me:
Thanks for painting the Lancer Porsches for two of Joe Sullivan's cars, one is for this Morrissey chassis, the other for one of Joe Sullivan's own chassis. The Lancer Porsche bodies on them, hastily sprayed plain silver and with Sharpie racing numbers, were simply too ugly for display.

When I got the body it was in an early 70's Parma package. From what I have heard they used MAC bodies. But it does bear a striking resemblance to the Russkit, so I do not know. Maybe MAC copied it? It has lots of incline/slant to it and seemingly more than the more accurate Russkit. You will be seeing it mounted very soon.
Cool chassis! That Morrissey is great. The segmented pans are interesting. Made possibly for more flex?

Isaac,
Parma bought the M.A.C. company's assets in 1974, after the death of one of the three partners. Hence, the Lancer Porsche (mistakenly called "917" when it shows only 8 cylinder intakes) became the M.A.C. Porsche in spyder and coupe versions, and was then copied by others.
The Russkit Elfin was super popular in the UK and for a shorter time in the USA. The Mini Wheels copy is made of Lexan, while Russkit's were made of the far more fragile polystyrene butyrate like 90% of the 1960s bodies.

Interesting, that does clear up a few things. The Parma header said "Lexan" so it is probably another copy of the Russkit as it doesn't look like the Mini Wheels.
