It was all by hand, from that MARVELOUS~SWEDISH~ENGINERING~MIND of his.

If all the parts were "loaded" straight and secure in a jig, possibly you could solder them in 4 minutes.
But IMO, it would be physically impossible to do both.

He cut and bent earlier. This is what I meant. Hope that clarifies?
We never used steel, I used the old fashioned bristle brush.
I think there is something Zen in it.
Ahhh, Bon Ami!

He would RACE THE CLOCK !
As, I said, there really IS something in the DNA of Racers.
This is what I've observed. In case you didn't know you were DIFFERENT- YOU ARE!!
And it is a Wonderful Thing! : D

I think He was the template for the Mario Cart series. I SWEAR nobody can zip around
vehicles and get ahead of others like this man behind the wheel.
(AND SAFELY TOO! Still amazes me.)

Much more believable.ALSO, this was the "CHEEPIE CHASSIS" the simplest of those he constructed,
I had thought you were referring to the chassis in the first post.
You speak of him in the past tense.
Has he passed?

AS I SAID, it was his occupation and profession. When he had orders to produce a thousand chassis or more - he was assembly line about it.
Masterfully so.
And no, he's not dead. The past tense you refer to is describing a past event.
As Capt'n Beefheart said "The Past Sure Is Tense."
(He's toned the road-warrior-rally-driving down some now.)

I dared not disturb. Rather like Frankenstein's lab- (paired down & industrial, of course). No time or space wasted- VERY SWEDISH!
Your Dear Mr. PDL has made a COURTEOUS request -(for those reading this blog, THIS is the tone of requests I respond to),
concerning the documentation of his history in this great Sport, which I WILL take great pains to fulfill.
But to specifically answer your question, Rick, I don't think there are! Sad. I wish Mr. Tanaka had taken some!!!
{Like of R.E.H.'s "conveyor-belt" between the windows of his 2 houses to transport products,- Remember THAT Steve?! Wasn't that a hoot!?}
I WILL look, and see if I can come up with any : ) Thank You for asking !

I meant Matt. Will we ever be lucky enough to hear from Steve, himself?
I guess between Steve D chiming in, and Sedeen sounding similar to Saleen, I had "Steve" on my mind.

I remember it well. It was actually a roller skate conveyor. I used to have to ride across it on a cafateria tray when each and every roller need oiled. It took about a half an hour to 45 minutes. If there was an ice storm the whole thing locked up. If it was raining or snowing hard you had to move fast to get the stuff off the conveyor. We had a pole with a hook to bring in errant picking totes that hung up on the rollers. It was a classic example of necessity being the mother of invention on many levels.
