Located in Kiefer, OK, just a few miles south of Tulsa, OK, this modern facility will be 4000 square feet and will house three tracks... a Canadian-built Ogilvie blue King, a Gerding tri-oval, and a Hasse drag strip. It will be called Bobby's Hobbies and be owned and operated by Bobby Brummett, a long-time racer himself.
Out of town racers will be delighted in at least four ways... a nice modern facility in which to race with three high quality, well-maintained tracks, ample parking, easy to get to location with modern four-lane roads to the front door, and it's located right behind his wife's restaurant that features the best home cooking and fresh homemade desserts.
He's hoping to be open by the end of April or earlier if all goes well. Here's what it looked like on April 1. Will send updated photos as progress continues.

I don't know how things are in OK, but going from the raw frame to open for business in four weeks or less would be a true miracle in NY. Between scheduling subs and inspections and obtaining the CO after the final, moving in, installing and tweaking the tracks etc. etc. etc., this would be like turning water into wine, or something.

If you will PM me the address and other info, I'll add the Bobby's Hobbies to Slotblog's Raceway List with the notation "under construction, opening date TBA".

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

We cant wait for his first TSRA Texas Series race.
Best of luck Bobby...see you soon.

I have correct my spelling of Bobby's last name. My apologies to Doug that I added an "E" and he PM'd me about it. No doubt Bobby is used to having his name mispelled the same way I am.

United we stand and divided we fall, the Legends are complete.
I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.
Pistol Pete you will always be in my memory.

These two pics were taken 4/24/10. As you can see the walls and roof are on. The larger opening on the left will be the front door.
Here is an inside shot from the back corner of the building looking toward the front door. There will be some fast racing on three tracks within these walls in the very near future.

Here, just inside the front doorway, we are looking to the back end of the building. The straightaway for the King track will be parallel to the wall on the right with the main bank at the far end. The starting line for the drag strip will be at the far left corner of the room and be parallel to the wall on the left. The little room left of center on the back wall will be Bobby's paint room. Bobby has painted many many RC and slot car bodies over the years and is quite good at it.
Now I'm standing at approximately where the starting line for the drag strip will be and shooting up toward the front entrance. The small rooms up toward the front are the bathrooms and Bobby's office. The little room protruding from the right side wall is the HVAC room. The drag strip will obviously be to the left of it. Bobby's retail counter will be between where the mobile lift is now and the front door.
This was my best attempt to get a shot of the plans for the whole place. The front entrance is at the bottom left. Bobby's office and bathrooms are along the left side of the photo. The Gerding tri-oval is out in front of them. The Hasse built drag strip runs along the top of the photo and the Canadian built Ogilvie Blue King will occupy the bottom center and right of the pic. Sheet rock arrived this past week and is going up. The whole place will have a dropped ceiling at 9 1/2 feet above the floor. I have been assured this place will be WELL LIT.
I'll try to get another update for you in the next week or so. In the meantime, have fun building or racing.

The wife and I just had some good lunch at Bobby's wife's restaurant out in front of the new track, so I thought I would go around back to see if I could get any updates and the answer is "yes". As you can see a big electrical box has been mounted to the outside wall on the left and the forms have been set to pour more sidewalk on the left.
Inside the front doorway we see that all the sheetrock is up and has been mudded and taped. A worker by the name of Mike was inside sanding away as Bobby is at P. A. Watson's racing today. Mike stepped out of view for me to take the picture.
Here at the back of the room is Bobby's future paint booth. Some awesome painted slot car bodies will emerg from this room in the years to come.
Looking back up toward the front, the place is really starting to take shape. The HVAC closet has been closed in along the right side wall you see here and the equipment is starting to go in. You can also see some equipment starting to be installed in the rooms at the front with a lot of the duct materials piled up in the middle of the floor, just about where the tri-oval will be located.
There are two pigeons that think they have set up permanent residence inside the building. I've named them Gertrude and Heathcliff (names Red Skelton gave to two seagulls in his comedy skits he did years ago). Bobby will have an interesting time evicting them when it comes time to put the doors on. That's all for now. Have fun rewinding, building and racing! And have a safe and happy Memorial Day next week. I'll be back in early June with another update.
