I went by the new place this past Saturday on a warm Oklahoma afternoon. Here's the latest progress. Sheetrock is up, mudded, taped, sanded and painted. More electrical and HVAC stuff continues to be installed. I'm standing in the front doorway and looking to the far back wall of the room.
Looking from the back up to the front. As you can see much of the overhead duct work for the heating and air has been installed. To the guy who posted #16 comment to this thread: yes, I think it will be plenty toasty in here on a cold, windy Oklahoma winter day. This coming week they're supposed to be starting the gridwork for the dropped ceiling.
I looked around for Gertrude and Heathcliff (refer to my previous update for that story) but I never saw them. I was going to try to get their picture too. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, maybe they went to the lake also. Stay tuned for the next update in a week or two.

Sorry, no pictures today but Steve said the ceiling grids are almost in and they'll be painting the floors soon. He said Bobby is supposed to hold his first race the weekend of June 26-27. It will need to be "all hands on deck" to get that done!

Thanks for the updates! It's so exciting to see your new place getting completed.
The wife and I just had some good lunch at Bobby's wife's restaurant out in front of the new track
Nothing better than racing and then stepping across the way for a good meal!!!
Don't forget to put up the "bodyshop" next to the paint booth - LOL!!
I'm excited for you guys - congratulations! Looking forward to seeing pix of the first race!
Have a great rest of the week - Doug, Bob!!

Sorry, again, no pics but here's the latest. Ceiling, lights, HVAC, overhead ductwork...all done. Power company was due to install meter soon. Walls got a 2nd coat of paint. Floor has been painted and is drying...it takes 3 days to dry. Final inspections very soon. When all are complete, they'll start bringing in the tracks. Chase, unless some major catastrophe happens, the TSRA race WILL BE in 2 weeks. All this is according to Steve, Bobby's #1 righthand man.
Don't forget, there's some mitey fine eatin' just 25 feet from the track at Bobby's wife's restaurant!

What is the address of the track?

I just had a phone call with Bobby. The tracks will start going in tomorrow. They will set the King up first since it needs to be ready to race on in less than 2 weeks. They will have all 3 tracks in the building by Wednesday night or Thursday. The power company is supposed to install the meter and turn on the electricity towards the end of the week. Bobby got the new braid yesterday and they'll start re-braiding the King this week.
Official name and address:

The floor is dry and all 3 tracks are in the building. The King is assembled and is being re-braided. The drag strip and the tri-oval will be worked on after the King is finished. There will be a TSRA race in a week and a half on the King, so it's pedal to the metal to get it going ASAP!
I'm hoping to get some pics on Saturday 6/19 but won't be able to post them until the 20th.

The first car went around the track on black around 3am this morning. They're about to finish up the braid work on the King. Steve says they'll be ready for this weekend.
Racers - Load up your stuff and get ready to head this way. There will be some "boogity boogity boogity" slot racin' in Tulsa this weekend!!!

I just talked to Bobby. He says everything is in good shape and he will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 8am! So some of you guys can get here early and beat some of the crowd that will come later. He's also been working very closely with Eagle Distributing here in Oklahoma to make sure he is well stocked with parts.
Could you guys do me a big favor? Sometime during your visit to the track, would you please let Bobby know you've been reading about his new place on Slotblog? It won't get me any favors or perks, I just want him to know that Slotblog is an important part of our hobby/sport. Thanks.
Don't forget, his wife's restaurant is out in front of the track. It is called the Kari-Okie Cafe and bakery. Be sure to stop in!

Will you find out what the braid depth is, on the King track?I'm going by the track this afternoon with camera. Will post pics tomorrow.

First of all, John, the braid is level with the track, according to Steve.
For the past number of weeks, I've tried to give you 2 of the same views from inside the building. Here's the one where I'm standing at the front doorway looking toward the back of the room. Sorry about the clutter. It's called "work in progress".
Now, here's a shot at the back looking up toward the front. Obviously the drag strip isn't set up yet but you can see where it will go.
Here's the King, all set up with some new braid on it. Steve was doing some last minute wiring on the track when I was there.
Here's Bobby getting his sales counters all situated. Obviously the main focus this weekend will be racing on the King. Bobby was supposed to get some pit tables in after I left. As you can see he has a number of chairs. There is a lot of little stuff to finish but to go from a flat slab of concrete 3 months ago to this is pretty amazing.
Here's the tri-oval stacked along the wall where the shut-down area for the drag strip will be. After the race this weekend, they'll start putting up those 2 tracks next week. Bobby is hoping to have the drag strip up and running for a local drag race next weekend.
That's all for this time. I'll try to get some shots of some of the action this weekend.
Be sure to tell Bobby you read about his place on Slotblog. Thanks!
