Brylcreem a little dab will do ya

And John, yes, I had 3 paper routes back in the day. A morning one and night one and then the weekly town paper. 75 daily's and 135 Sunday's. And yes..I did have a 5 Speed Schwinn..."on the column" or more lovingly remembered as the nutbuster shifter.

I was a Vitalis guy myself, hated the "greasy kid's stuff" OR the "glue". Cool on the paper routes Joe. I had a bunch but usually only two at a time...the Herald Tribune, the Star Journal, The Daily News and some others that I forget that are long gone too. One route I had was well over 200 papers (I had to make three trips to the route office or more!), but it was mostly apartment buildings so you could chain up your bike and ride the elevator and toss them as you stuck your head out the door at each floor I made what was then a ton of money...especially at Christmas time. Between the papers, cutting grass, raking leaves and snow-shovelling I woulda been rolling in dough...except my Mom took it all for my "college fund" (ie...I never saw a dime!)

This was taken back in the 60s and if I remember correctly, probably at Tom Thumb in Union, NJ

I may have run into you at the time Noose. I lived in Westfield when I was in High School and raced @ Tom Thumb a few times.

Joe,
You know what that bikes worth if you still had it today?? I had one to when I was around 10 or 11. Mine was metal flake silver and green, high riser handle bars and banna seat.
We were at a swap meet last year and saw one for sale from a bike vender guess how much? Give up? $1,250.00 bucks !!! and the guy had sold it before we left that afternoon. Not to shabby huh? for a bike that sold brand new for around $49.95???

In SA in those days we had stuff called La Pebra that did the same thing - it would have made a good substitute for a cycling helmet, not that we wore them in those days.
Come to think of it, it might work to make hardbodies from vacforms...........
