Saved from the scrap heap

Couldn't let it go to the scrap heap. Someone did a nice job but some unknown reason they hacked it in half. Everything I used to restore it was either used or loose from my stash. Goin' green . Even the iron, flux and solder were over 30 years old.
I joined it back together with some tubing. Cleaned up all of the joints and removed that tube from the front. I figured it was there to fill with lead if needed. Had to redo the front axle tube because as they say in Italy, "She was a little a crook." Motor is a Ram Boo Chee that I restored (see earlier thread). I notched out the motor plates so the motor could slide in and out without unsoldering the mounts. Holds tight with the screw and will accept a circlip if needed.
Rear wheels are Kal Kar chromies with Record Elastik rear meats, still soft after 45+ years. Fronts are from the extremely rare Monogram Sizzler model kit. They ride on a Cox freewheeling axle with acorns. It all fits like it was made that way. Leads are Marklin. I left a little sanding marks and stuff to give it an authentic feel. Can't wait to make a pass or two.
Boo Chee before resto.
Sorry for the crappy pics, raining today and photography is not my strong suit.

Just joking you should join us when we have the no-glue drag night.
I'll let you know if you want to join us.

Duffy, I like your analysis - you are hereby a certified slot car archaeologist! Now, can you explain why we find so many cars with mismatched rear wheels? Did the guy just give up or discover girls right in the middle of changing his rear tires?

Yeah, but, "back in the day" we woulda used MERCURY, not lead in that Moon tank.Thinking of a Moon tank setup with lead.
Nice save, car looks great.
