Exactly as all who were lucky to meet Jim Russell remember him.
Thank you for posting this.

Is there any film with audio of Jim Russell?

Thanks, Sandy, for sharing the story and experiences with Jim. RIP.
I know you to be a great ambassador of the sport. Some time ago, maybe 10 years ago plus minus. I was walking by a row of Ferrari 250 GTOs at Pebble Beach and I heard a voice talking slot cars. I introduced myself as a fellow slot car guy and you spent some time telling me some personal slot car stories.
You will not remember me but I will always remember that moment.
But I walk away thinking, I just meet Sandy Gross.

Not only am I lucky enough to have met Jim but to also have lunch with him and my dad on a few occasions, and to hear his story firsthand about the history of his Daytona then years later it becomes big news.
I am honored to have made a few HO body patterns for him that went into production. How cool is that!

its a great story Sandy. I missed it last year, glad you told it. What a time it was to be slot racing.
