Some of us have been following Pablo's Pablo Flex build as a diversion from all the motor stuff. I figured I might as well build something also? After all isn't that why were supposed to be here anyway?

For this build I'm not really using my imagination. It will be more of a copy or paying homage to Mike Swiss's swiss cheese car that long time Chicago club racer Chuck Gambo won the flat track Can-Am race with at the Sano IV, Steve Grider finished third in the Can-Am on the King race at the Sano IV, Bryan Warmack won the Boola Bash flat track D3 race, and Howie ran at the Fall Brawl.

I'm using one of Swiss's Chicagoland Raceway Backagra designed for the JK hypoid bracket, JK bracket, Chicagoland guide tongue, probably some left over JK pans from a past project, and finally a nosepiece that I'm not sure if it's a prototype or production piece?

Just make sure that Holy Chassis does not exceed the IRRA-set MSRP (Material Still Remaining <on> Plate)!!

I'm not going to swiss cheese it, but don't expect all the material currently present on the pans to be there on the finished product.

I'm shooting for a 100 gram car when complete. :big_boss:

How about semi-production as the description. :)

I see you added more pics. I'm getting flashbacks of all the work building it.

As long as we are on the subject, I never understood why the bracket stiffener is spelled "Brack-agra" as opposed to "Backagra" ? "Backagra" makes more sense to me. Like "Viagra"., "Brackagra" sounds like a reference to Barry Soretoro.
Not trying to be a smart alec, and sorry for drift, Rob. Build on !!!

I get that it stiffens up the back of the chassis but my thought process was that it's a bracket stiffener.

Thanks, Pablo, but I'm still in the gathering parts phase. I found these fronts in the bottom of my box. I think I might use them for this project?

Wow. :o

You're using a 3/16" front axle.

It should be strong. :)

Very interesting chassis. What are ther small wire doohickeys doing up front there.... connecting the solid mounted front "pan" piece to the floating(?) middle pans? Applying some sort of spring action? Trying to achieve a "free floating" effect? I got lost on the "main" rails. I can kind of follow them, but it looks like a couple of rails poke through the motor braclet(?). If true, which of the 3 rails is it? Is the motor bracket acting as a "stop" for those rails?

I'm not sure. Bryan added them.

IIRC, he said it was a D3 mandated safety device so if the pan
gets knocked off, it doesn't fly into the stands.

Ohhh I get it now, Bracket Agra. Brack-Agra. I was thinking in terms of Back, like backbone, or spine. Bracket-Agra :D

Tex, come on now, this is not about the swiss-cheese chassis, it's about Rob doing a new build :)

Those "springy" wires are still very trick... They soften the fore/aft and up/down movement of the pans.

Get busy... I've got the same parts... but a Hot Rod to build first... LOL!

Rob,

New guy here just getting into Retro.. Why are the front tires leaned out so much? Is it set up so that the front tires ride on the outside edges?

Frankie, it's a trick of forced perspective, the camera lens is right up inside the chassis! Look at the rears, they "splay" too.

IRRA mandates a straight one-piece axle. See rules HERE.

Rob,

That looks way Sano and if it runs like Mike S. you sure got a winner. ;)

Have to say I was really impressed the way Bryan ran that chassis at the Boola Bash, but then he can turn fast laps with any car.
Hmm... not fair! :laugh2:

Frankie:

As Mike said, ask any question you want. Keep in mind my build will be sort of a copy. Pablo is correct, that me posting photos of Mike Swiss's original, built by him is confusing. Mike's car seems to work well and I don't believe he took any photos during the build, which is why I'm doing this build along with having another thread on the blog that isn't motor related.
