Back in the day this place was an oasis where all the east coast family travelers stopped. Motels, swimming pools, Rides, zoo, fireworks, RV park, fuel, gifts, restaurants, etc..etc..

Also this page from an old newsletter... funny, I remember hearing that name Tommy Bostick over the PA at the races I went to. I think he was driving a Fairlane at that time... this newsletter was from '69 and it shows him (#33) in a Galaxie.
Also, a shot of a Chevelle from that time period... very popular in those days for building up into a dirt track car.

The body is one of two 4" spec bodies allowed in the FCR-NCS Grand National division.
As I was told by my local track owner where I bought it that they are being sold by JK but.........it is molded O/S where the rear license plate would be.
Maybe Ron can chime in and give us the details.

We went there in 2008 with the Wyatt Motorsports #29 NASCAR LMSC based out of Langley, VA., never saw it before and driver Casey Wyatt finished second at the Thanksgiving feature race. We had a built motor with a 500cfm 2BBl. The locals and the winner were running GM 604 crate motors with 4BBLs as it was not a NASCAR sanctioned track. There is a bit of a hump off turn 2 that we didn't totally figure out.
From the DMS website:
The original 4/10 mile dirt oval opened around 1961 as Dillon County Raceway, operating through 1970. It reopened from 1977 to 1980. In 2006, badly over grown, it was bought by Ron Barfield and Stuart Jackson. The track was paved and given new life. The 2007 season was the first for the new Dillon Motor Speedway. The track continues to grow and improve.

So lets see ...tow fuel at $3.50 gal, 30 gals of race fuel at $7 bucks, 8 tires at $120+ ea. $500 to do the shocks on the dyno, $850 for hotel and food and $1200 payout for second place.
Junior did a lot better then we did.
