The race prize raffle generated funds which will be used exclusively to fund future events as well as help pay for the annual costs of producing online race reporting and related slotcar activities. Our websites (socald3.com, socald3.com, smugmug, etc.) have annual costs (hundreds of dollars) and we do need to spend money to provide future webcasts. In particular, I hope to help improve our future webcasts so we can generate more interest in our hobby so all can benefit. I believe raising funds (i.e. - prize raffles) is a good way for all to help support our hobby and hopefully we'll have more support in the future.
This year's Checkpoint was special. We had a significantly higher turnout (50 Can Am entries) than we did for the last two years. I hope that's a sign that our hobby will have a better year than the past two.
Thanks to all the out of town, out of state and out of country (Haruki Kan of Tokyo) racers who commit a lot to travel to BP to join in the fun.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Checkpoint and we are looking forward to more of the same at next year's Checkpoint.
Again, thanks to all for your ongoing support.
Keith
p.s. - I should have the complete race/chassis photo report posted online in two to three days (a ton of photos!), stay tuned.

this years Checkpoint Cup 2012 was the best yet,was great to see all THE GUYS,Old friends from the past,
and many new ones too,and this year had to be the "year of super close race finishes",
many podium spots seperated by just a few feet, and lower times and wayyyyyyyyyy more laps than ever before,,
thats due to the great condition of the raceway,Jim & Debbie Watterson have done an excellent
job to keep the race facilities in tip top shape, all involved with helping at BPR are THE BEST.
Looking forward to the TONS OF PHOTOS and the race reports
(especially that CAN-AM D Main,,,i hear that was a Barn-Burner finish,,,,,,, )

I apologize to all for leaving early as my old body quit on me, but please be assured that the sinus condition I encountered is NOT viral, so is NOT contagious as it cannot be transmited (so told me the doc yesterday night at the local hospital).
I am sorry that I could not properly say good bye to our out of town guests, but I can say here that they are all great guys which company I truly enjoyed. I hope I get the chance to meet them again.
It can only get better from here, and the D3 Board will soon meet to sort out what can be improved, what needs to remain and what needs to be changed.
