We are opening a new raceway/hobby shop!
Speed Zone Hobbies

We are a full line hobby shop, with a total of nine different slot car tracks in our possession. Our tracks range from an original Aurora HO scale Tub Track to a sweet 1/24 tri-oval/roadcourse!
Naturally, we'll have a full line of slot cars and accessories in all scales, as well as R/C cars, planes, and boats, as well as plastic models, model trains, and much, much more!
Just a few pics from a few weeks ago here:

We'll have more details to come soon!

Marcus, feel free to hide there anytime! I'm hoping to be open by Christmas... we'll see if that happens. We'll probably have 5 tracks in operation at any one time. A couple tracks are slated to do shows, conventions and county fairs, etc, and may or may not see duty in the shop.
The painters are in the building, and we'll be doing the floor next week (I hope). Then Jobiwan and I can get to assembling tracks.
I'm sure looking forward to getting open for business!

Most of the renovation inside is finished. The tracks are starting to be assembled. Things are coming together, albeit slower than anticipated. (As usual, set a goal, then mutiply the time factor by at least 2).

The proposed plan:

A couple weeks ago:

A few hours ago on December 24, 2011:

Ogilvie Grandstand II:

Tubby:

The Ogilvie Roval:

Tommy Flythe... "Hey boss... I think we need a bigger building!" :

Tommy... "Maybe it will fit!"

And that's the way it is, December 24, 2011.

I drove down to see Speed Zone last Saturday and they've still got a lot of work to do.
My personal guesstimate is 90 days or so, though if it can happen sooner, I know it will.

I'm hoping to get the doors kicked open in about three-four weeks. The interior renovation is completed, and the other tracks, showcases, and sales counter will be in place by the end of this week.
Wiring of the Grandstand II and the Royal is underway, as well as refinishing the borders. Rebraiding should commence next week.
I will have some updated photos posted soon.

We plan on running Retro here soon. We'll see what the interest is, we may do a weekly Retro race. For sure at least a "once a Month" Retro race would be fine with me!
We're hoping to secure a slot somewhere for a sanctioned Retro series race. Stay tuned!

And as for the Retro cars I hope you all have a Retro class. I want to start running them as well.

All seven tracks are in place right now, and we will to start braiding the Grandstand II and the Royal next week. The Lazy 8 and 1/32 Delphi road course are up and running.
I'll be posting some updated pics later.

Great looking raceway you've got going on! The Grandstand is a fun track, a lot like a Kinglemann. I've never seen a Roval before. I'll bet Retro would be a blast on that track, especially when it's configured as a road course.
Hope to get down to see it someday. Keep up the good work!

Things are coming right along! Six of the seven tracks are up and running, and the Trackmate systems hopefully will arrive late next week.
I've been waiting to post pics until we get things a little more organized, and I hope to do a photo shoot this weekend.
I'm hoping by the end of the month or very early April we'll kick the doors open for business, but we'll just have to see.
Here's a pic of a couple folks trying out the Lazy 8:

Well, it seems you were right, Cheater.
Perhaps Jeff can give us an update on how it's going down in PTC?
