Same thing that happens every year. High school swimming, wrestling tourneys, Arnold Classic, NCAA tourney games (new this year)
The NCAA I didn't know about. Everything else has been around all previous years. That might have done it.

The hotel industry is a tight knit group. They network (and pay a fee per occupied room) with the local Chamber of Commerce for marketing and additional services. They also know the exact number of rooms available (for their market) and the revenue generated based upon occupancy rates.
On a quarterly basis they all get together to discuss target markets, up and coming events, and rate increases. So, if they decide that everyone should consider a rate increase, then they institute a rate increase.
Well, that 's how it's done for the rooms in southwestern Michigan.
Geez... John, when you describe it that way you could almost call it price fixing!!

If you are on the fence about coming to the R/4 I would suggest tipping in favor of making the race... now. After what I saw yesterday you will see the inline chassis design taken to the the next level at this race. Things that would not have even been even a "concept" at the first R4. Worth the trip just to see what is going on. Boggles the mind how far this "flintlock technology" of inline motor chassis design has come since the inception of Retro racing.
Another warm-up race in the form of the monthly ORS Series is being held next week at TT. If you can make it I would. Very interesting stuff...
