OK, we had another great race. This was one of the closest Can-Ams yet and the retro Flexi race had the top two finishers separated by less then ten feet. Congrats to all the winners.

Posted Image

Ray Carlisi, 1st in the Semi, 2nd in the "A" main, John Gorski TQ, new track record and 1st "A" main, and yours truly, Tonyp 3rd qualifier and 3rd in the "A" main.

Posted Image

Anthony Carlisi was our excellent race director and was forced by his dad to go to Hooters after the race.

Posted Image

Another great run by Mike Katz. Mike qualified 4th and was 5th in the "A" main a few feet behind Noose.

Posted Image

Noose making sure everyone was legal. Noose was 3rd qualifier and finished a good 4th place in the "A" main.

Getting ready to qualify, time for one last practice lap. The track had a ton of bite this week which showed in the fast qualifying times through out the field.

John built a new faster car for this race but made it into a kit in practice on Saturday. John ran his old reliable once again. All rails are .063, .032 pans, and his trademark JK front clip. Tires are JK all around. Gearing is 8/26 and body is an MAC Lola painted by Noose. John back on form drove his best race yet.

Ray had John make him a new chassis for this race but did not have a chance to pick it up in time to set it up. Ray once again got a excellent finish with his Steube chassis. Ray's driving once again put him on the podium. JK tires, 8/26 gearing, and a MAC Lola body.

This was my best car yet. I managed to hold Ray to three laps and that's pretty good for an old geezer who can barely follow his car around the track. This is the car I was third with a few races ago. I rebuilt it to use some of the technology from my F1 car. The rails are .078 wire. It has a faux plumber rail. Split pans are soldered to the plumber and main pans are .032. The rar split pans are .063 to add more weight to the rear. Tires are JK, 8/27 gearing, and an O/S Lola body.

The Flexi winners, Nick Malinoski 4th qualifer and 2nd in the "A" main, Charlie Sweet 2nd qualifier and 1st in the "A" main, Ray Carlisi 3rd qualifier and 3rd in the "A" main.

Posted Image

Charlie and Nick were just feet apart at the end of the main.

Noose swept concours again with his 917, Turi was second with his Ferrari, and Vinny was third with his Porsche.

Ray wondering what he has to do to get a sit-out and not have to run the Can-Am Semi.

I think they would have no issue passing tech.

Noose,
Great Idea for a T-shirt!
Any chance you got anymore in an extra large? I'd buy one!

Great job, racers!

Congrats again to John, Tony, Charlie, Nick, and all the other East Coast Retro Racers that were in the mix.

It was great racing with Charlie Sweet again. I don't know if anyone knew this, but Charlie and I raced together quiite a bit back in the late 1980s at Elmsford Raceway in NY. Incidentally Nick Malinoski won two mains and a second at the Parma Challenge Cup in 2003. Charlie also made three mains and had two podiums at the same race. Charlie and Nick said they will definitely be racing with us again. Always good to know some of the slot car racing history of the newcomers to our program ;)

The post-race celebration was way 8).

Is there a load of lead on the top side? It doesn't look like it would make the 110 gram limit without it . . .

Dennis, no lead. I'll check again on the pans. I was trying to get that stuff up as fast as possible last night.

Ron, I got the heatsink from Noose. It's a R/C item made by either Kyosho or Tamiya for some mini car they make. He found them up on eBay. I am sure he will post the info.
