Pre-war race cars

I found the engine, it is the 24-cylinder Allison V which equipped the P38 Lightning, P-9 Airacobra, P40 Warhawk, and P51 Mustang!
I like the Napier-Railton and Birkin Bentley, two cars of the '30s.
There are no plastic kit in 1/24. Then, I remembered a book on the track racing called "Built with Passion" where the cars were made of wood.
For wood, I'll use the obéché or Ayou or samba, it is available in the form of rods in all DIY stores, it is lightweight and more enjoyable to work as balsa.
And for details, I will use leaf springs Ford pickup, and a driving model Merit.
Here is the draft.

The Birkin Bentley (second from top) and the Bugatti T59 replica (third from top) did not have aero engines, but the one on top had one, a Napier
The car is powered by a naturally-aspirated Napier Lion, a W12 of 23.944 litres (1,461 cu in) capacity, producing just over 500 brake horsepower at 2,200 revolutions per minute.
The Bentley had a 4.5-liter supercharged Bentley 6 engine.
Maybe THIS ONE?

They were popular in pulling tractors in the early days. Usually used in pairs they did produce some power! They would usually finish a pull with the headers cherry red for about a foot.
The Allisons couldn't compete with the three and then four blown drag racing motos though. Not enough RPM forced too high a gear ratio that hurt them the fisrt third of a pull. Seldom can $15,000 of engines beat a $100,000 worth.
And the more the pullers won the more they lost!

That thing should be a beauty! Test the Atlas-Marusan motor before locking it inside, many fail...

By the way, Allison and Rolls Royce Merlins engines were really popular in Unlimited Hydroplane racing in the Seattle, Washington area back before I was building slot cars. Local commercial fishermen experimented with squeeezing 540 HP Sherman Tank engines into 35 foot boats too...ouch!
