It took time (and a few lives) but today's quarter mile dirt Late Models have a lot more areo than the much revered Can-Am cars were.

That car was the ex-Bruce MaLaren M8, a works car with all the goodies, built by McLaren, not by Trojan like the customers cars. It was a great machine but was not sold with the special Reynolds aluminum Chevy engine from the works cars and by the time Oscar drove it, it was obsolete...

How does that Dirt Late Model "aero" work when turning the car in the right direction?
Then again... this was pretty "trick and aero" in 1982, but still not worth a "hoot" when turning right.

Works pretty good, Ron. Dirt cars generally turn the steering wheel to the right.

Didn't oscars car at one time have actually cars on pegs that fit in holes on the body when it was not being actually raced?
Posted 10 April 2012 - 08:48 PM
Truth.
I saw it in the pits at Riverside, I don't remember if the slot cars were on it at that race but I do remember seeing pix of them on it back then. What I do remember was Oscar driving an R/C car around the McLaren to the amusement of many.
I think he used that livery for a couple of years... dang CRS (But I'm sure PDL will remind us)

Yes, thank you very much, Dennis, for the 1/32 body and chassis. As you can see I have not put it together yet but all three the 1/28 (?) Vanquish, AFX Magna Traction HO, and my 1/32 Betta body. Dennis' car all have a home in our china cabinet!

Nice photo, have not seen that one before!
That's the later Jerobee R/C car livery, not an easy one to replicate either!

Dennis,
It is somebody's snapshot from the race. Go to Facebook page Can-Am History and you will see lots of unique pictures from the era and comments from people who were there.
