Ran across this pic of the AutoWorld McLaren in an unusual top down camera angle at The Roaring Season.
This picture was taken by Charles Houser at the St. Jovite Can-Am race #2 in 1970.
Figured I'd add it to this thread...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

And here's Oscar narrating a lap around Road Atlanta in 1970 at the first Can-Am race held at the recently-opened raceway.
Lots memories for me, as I started working corners at Road Atlanta in the fall of 1972 and what you see in this clip is what Road Atlanta looked like back then. The track looks a lot different today...

That car was the ex-Bruce MaLaren M8, a works car with all the goodies, built by McLaren, not by Trojan like the customers cars. It was a great machine but was not sold with the special Reynolds aluminum Chevy engine from the works cars and by the time Oscar drove it, it was obsolete...
There was a peroid of time that he ran a Chevy engine built by Jack Conely out of Brighton Michigan (Conley's Speed Shop). I was worked for Jack during that time frame.
