Maybe Retro Stock Car is more popular than I realize, but I just searched the race announcements forum for the last year and only found four Retro Stock Car race announcements. For an entire year. Four races.

Never said it wasn't a tough decision but it was one made just the same. We felt strong enough about it, that Tony P voted for banning them, despite it cutting off a revenue stream for him. As a maker of brackets, same for me.
As far as legislating against complex designs, as I mentioned before, it's just not practical. What do we do? Limit bends? Amount of solder joints?
I just see Noose counting bends and solder joints at R4/6 on entrant #1's car with 69 guys waiting to tech. LOL.
Too much to do. I'm done with this.
Feel free to keep posting.

Offset chassis were banned shortly after those guys started building them. They weren't legal long enough to attract any other builders.

Penn-Ohio is the only series that races them monthly... we run them nine times per season on both ovals and road courses.
GRRR runs them a couple of times a year. Same for Retro East. And they now only run them on road courses.
Keep in mind that they are a Tier 2 support class, but we find them fun, and a change of pace...

I agree with you the Stock Car class is one of the most fun, especially on the ovals!!!

At least we got it before the horse was totally out of the barn.
Matter of opinion...

Tony wasn't on the BoD at the time... He was a non-voting advisor.

Ask PdL. He will tell you what a 'traditional' Retro car should look like.

Noose could deal with it. We add new rules all the time.

Me, too...

We saw more growth in the Stock Car class when we stopped running on the ovals because they became a crash fest where races took longer and more stuff was broken. The road course ones have seen a much bigger growth in the number of entrants. In our Winter Series this year we had 70 entrants for four races for an average of a little over 17 per race. The last time we ran on an oval we had ten entrants.
Ya run 'em where they like 'em. IMO, this is by far the hardest class to drive. You do well here and that is saying something.

Yuuuppp!!!
Hope we get a good turn-out of short track Stock Cars (Phoenix) on April 28 for GRRR.
New chassis design is on the jig.
And of course we have the Daytona.

The rule set as it has developed is aimed at not favoring what "you" like but what would promote more participation.
Any time a group/element/minority tries to get what they want by saying "what difference would it make?", they're attempting to get something local introduced into what is designed to not be local.
The USRA has stumbled over this countless times... adopting something a few racers or a manufacturer wanted, then discovering that most could care less, but all were stuck with it regardless.
It still comes down to if you think it's better, then vote with your feet and go where they do it your way.
I commend the Board for sticking to its guns and not changing whatever for any vocal minority with a narrow local viewpoint.

LOL and I was also thinking run every other lane in the opposite direction with the other four running the correct direction in the same race.
Lucky Bob's used to do this... quite interesting... LOL and destructive... LOL... a chassis-selling race for sure... LOL.
