Well, I finally got some free time and was able to paint my new O/S 436 McLaren M7C Formula One bodies, and yes they did come with a paint mask and driver. With the Southern Shootout right around the corner it was important to get a little testing in this past weekend. Since my local track, Flashbacks Model Raceway is very similar to Roger's at East Tennessee Model Raceway I knew that would be very helpful.

I was skeptical to cut the body on the cut line at first, but decided to go for it and see what happens. Well I'm glad I did, because if you do, it comes out right at the max once mounted. So, very nice job on the cut line placement!

It didn't take long to feel the downforce this body makes, with the biggest improvment coming up the donut. The car was much more stable or "in the track" as I call it. After some A to B comparison tests against the Lotus 49, the M7C seems to be able to produce a 1/2 to a full tenth faster lap time overall. More importantly it felt more consistant lap after lap on a long run.

I was not able to try the O/S 437 M9A, however it seems like it will be a perfect medium between the M7C and Lotus 49, and I will have some of those painted and mounted today ready for Roger's this weekend.

Ralph, I mounted up both the M7 and the M9 yesterday, and as you said cut on the line and they mount up very nicely. Not sure if one really has an advantage over the other as they both have huge tray spoilers in the rear, but the M9's front canards have wedge shape whereas the M7 is flatter. (but larger).

We shall see this weekend, won't we? :)

Ralph,
When you reviewed the data from your new RTR chassis telemetry system, at what point in the donut did
the added stability of the new O/S 436 "kick in" ?

At 172 degrees?
213 degrees?
241 1/2 ?

C'mon Ralph, I need those numbers.

How am I going to set the Auto-accelerate pot on my new Super FET Ultra without them?

Both the Lotus 49 and the Mc Laren M7A could be made but without the wings........ they were separate from the body work ;)

i'll bet they would be much better without those wings,in front
those are the weak links of THE F1 BODIES out in the market ,
i believe the old Lotus 49 would be a fantastic body without those flimsy wings,

The 1967 Lotus 49 did not have any wings or a tray at the back to serve proper tea.

Oscar, have you tried the new Parma Matra or the new ones yet as noted above by OS? HUGE difference in the front as compared to any of the Lotus 49s out there.
