The vise all providers of 'free' content on the internet are being squeezed in was hammered home when I accessed a link to the largely-1/32 Spanish slot car site Slot Car Today a day or so ago and was greeted by the pop-up shown below.
I know just how the owner of that site feels. And more and more of the auto-related (or not) sites I go to are putting some or all of their content behind a paywall, or are limiting access. Most newspapers now require an online subscription or limit the number of articles that can be accessed per month or year.
Only 2.5% of the full members (and a mere 1.89% of full and partial members) at Slotblog have elected to be supporting subscribers and although there are other revenue streams (which unfortunately have been trending downward for a long time, partly the result of ad-blocking software), that miniscule level of user support is unlikely to to sustain a free Slotblog going forward.
Surely no one want to see the grating PBS TV station pledge drive routines here, so please consider becoming a Slotblog subscriber. There is a benefit for subscribing, as all the syndicated ads feeds will disappear, making Slotblog load faster (for those not using an ad-blocker).
If you don't feel this forum is worth 3.8 cents a day to you, I'd love to hear why not.
