Not to mention I've only been rac'n on a flat track for awhile.
Thanks for the tyre tips, y'all. I have enough to set my cars up before arrival, and I'll be investing (heavily?) at SZ in more tyres.

I track tested a few GT Coupes last night. The excitement is building for sure. I'll tell you now that your gonna feel like a kid in a Candy Store when you get to the Zone because the availability and selection of "Retro" inventory is incredible. Tires, chassis kits and built-up versions, bodies, motors, gears, everything you need to be race ready is there, and best of all amazing chassis's designed & built by the leading constructors are ready to be scooped up.
This is why speed zone is number 1. Whichever class you are racing there they have the goods. Tires like no other in stock, motors, chassis etc, and they sell it all. No dust gathering on their walls. Best managed raceway Jay and Mike rock. I love racing there.

Especially the retro pro cars would've been fun to come and race! With x12 PS motors, that will be a blast!
We run ours at the Gerding King at Midway America the weekend after the Sano 6 Jim and I attended, and man the track was fast both Jim and I ran low 4,40s with our old Falcon 7's. Since this is a class we run in Sweden, but only with Falcon 7's, we got a bit of practice and them angle winders really running smooth. The traction was so good on blue so just one or two blips going in to the finger and ocassionally in the donut was all that was needed.
Next Fall Brawl...we see! For RP beware

When we began racing Retro Pro in Southern California in 2007, Mike Steube and I used TSR D3 motors in our cars, while all others used the PS 4002 "Puppy Dog". We finished 1-2 on our King track that day!
This kind of irritated the "powers that be", and by the next race, the "Big Dog" armatures became legal. Eventually the X-12 armatures were allowed, to my personal regrets, because I believe that the "Big Dog" is more suited to the class, allowing chassis builders and aerodynamic specialists to shine their art.
What resulted is a fast class, but with lots of crashes, as the cars have limited down force for the speed they achieve, but at the same time, a fascinating racing class where luck is a factor, especially regarding track conditions and out of control cars T-boning yours from 10 feet away!
Speeds are quite amazing, resulting in regular racing lap times similar to what would have been a King-track single-lap world record in 1973.
We are slowly growing the class, as more are interested in "speed at all cost", the usual class killer, but in this case the limits placed on the motors have kept things in check.
I simply love the racing and wish that RP cars would always be run first on racing days, so that many who are currently missing the show could see by themselves what they are missing... and increase the participation rate.
Interestingly, the bodies we and you use are the very ones we used by 1973, designed by Yours Truly and made into 3 dimensions by the all-time slot car racing body mold master, Lloyd Asbury.
Full circle!

Still masking & painting bodies, I have to set up a GT coupe chassis & another F-1 chassis then mount bodies on them.
I have today's afternoon(Friday) & Saturday for this preparation.
Leaving on Nov 5, Monday for JFK, I will arive at JFK around noon on Monday, then drive a rental car to Mt. Holly.
The day is my daughter's birthday, so we will have her birthday party on Sunday instead.

I am not quite sure I will be able to pack all the slot stuff for the Brawl after the party, so I hope I will finish at least a half of packing on Saturday.

How is the traffic from JFK to Mt. Holly?
Any traffic jam because of the hurricane?
See you soon,
Haruki
