While real time race reports are nice, the track and organization should be doing everything to serve the racers during the event first and the onlookers second..... from what I could see, it looks like Mike and Jay did another great job for the racers that attended.

As long as this is a Hobby, we're subject to what other Hobbyists choose to make out of their own time. Hard for me to ask someone else to do what I won't.

It also gets old after awhile. I did all the Retro East reports until I moved and after the first couple of dozen it gets real old fast. lol...

But I did love his stuff. And I'll always cherish his description of Jochen Mass, brassed off: "...and an angry Jochen is quite a Mass."

Some day, someone will write race reports like they used to be written by Gene Hustings and Mike Morrissey. If you have ever read one you know the excitement they generated with background stories and careful detail of all aspects of the drama. We have none of that now and the race reports are just a few statistics. The old way inspired a generation of young people to dream about attending one of the events and winning one of those races. How can anyone be inspired without great writing. Too bad that is all gone. Just read anything from Car Model and Model Car Journal and you will know. It is sad that the story of these races are never told.
Perhaps we should nominate Howie for the job?

I do appreciate the work and time that people put in to take the pictures, and give us the info we do get.

Amen, Howie! When I was a kid in the 60's, reading those race reports made slot racing much more exciting and interesting than it would have been otherwise. We would build a chassis (sorta) like one of our heroes built (you for example, Howie) race it on a buddy's homemade 3 lane wooden track, and we felt special. The articles, photos and race reports in the magazines made slot cars seem to us like real racing machines, not toys. Actually they were real miniature racing machines! But, we may not have realized it without the guys who wrote it up...

Sorry, I know you guys really mean well, but I can't help chuckling at lines like "It would be great if someone would - " in which someone is implicitly "NOT-me." What do you imagine will happen? Some guy'll read the post and go, "Wow, MAJOR head slap, it just never occurred to me what I'd be doing with all that extra time now that my wife dumped me! Wull, Good Gracious Goll -Leee,I gotta thank that guy..."
