Protar make a decent model of this classic F1 car and I would like to make it in Grp. for Slot car use.

Knowing that my friend Fola is better than me in making low weight Grp. bodies, I contacted him and the result was NSF-Classics, a coorporation which hopefully will result in a series of fine, decent priced lightweight Grp. Slot Car kit.

The NSF kit has a very lightweight body + resin and vacformed parts to make a nice slot car replica of the MP4/2C

Decals are also available - also for the McLaren M23 which is also available from NSF Classics

This is my scratchbuilt brass chassis for the body, made from 1,5mm brass and relatively cheap spare parts.

Trial fit of the body

I found that the chassis was much too heavy and removed a lot of material in order to reach a total RTR weight of 130g.

using the enclosed template i made the wing parts in 0,3mm carbon, painted on one side only as the original

Decals added, waiting for clear coat

A little progress: Spoiler assembled and added. Also the car was tested tonight with the lighter chassis and impressed by extreme roadholding and fast lap times - now its very close to the fastest time clocked by this type of cars on our track :-)  NICE

next step, windscreen, driver to be added + carbon plate sides to the lower front end + disassembly of the car and painting the chassis black.
