From YouTube:

"This is a heat from the US G-Jet Grand Prix, the BSRT 902 F1 race. This is on the eight-lane HO replica of the Purple Mile."

This HO replica of an American Model Raceways 220' Sovereign was built by Slotblog member, Brad Bowman, and can be found at Modelville Hobby in Ashland, MA.

I got a chance to drive a "poly-mod" on that track during my visit in December. Imagine a car going twice the speed  LOL. These are probably a better match for the layout.

The workmanship on that track is outstanding! And so is Modelville. They have a number of historic HO tracks there: a Car Model/Englemann redone by Brad Bowman, as well as the Parma routed HO track, plus three other routed HO tracks,  PLUS the 1/24 Sovereign, a King, and original American Black (the one with banked turns, not flat), and an nice figure eight. It's like walking into a slot car Disneyland... you don't know which ride to go on first!  :D

When the above videos end, there are also videos of Grp 7 on the 1/24 Sovereign, and G-Jets on the CM/Englemann (2011).  Two very historic tracks.

Anyone who is in that area really needs to take a few hours and stop in...

Used to. I was heavily involved with UFHORA in '95-96. Came in fifth in restricted open in the '96 Nats up at Todd Duda's track (unfortunately trophies only for top four, so nothing to show for it.  LOL.)

Got out of HO shortly after that.

John,

Thanks, did not know this, I will try to make it, just to see. Place must be gigantic.

If you want to blow some dust off your HOs and you're in the area, stop by; you're always welcome at TEAM 1/64.

Thanks,

Guys,

Thank You for all your great replies.

Just for your information, the HO section of Modelville Hobby is called Lenjet HO Raceway. It's a private club that is in a separate area of Modelville. We welcome all HO racers to our races and welcome all visitors. Usually the garage door within Modelville that seperates the two raceways is closed unless Peter Lentros, myself, or a member is within the facility.

If you're planning on visiting Modelville and want to check out the HO area, please give me or Peter Lentros a call so that we can open the HO area and let you play all your heart desires.

Thank you,

John Stezelecki - (781) 630-3064

Peter Lentros - (508) 380-3339

Chris,

According to the list of tracks constructed on Brad Bowman's WEBSITE, that track is 83.5 feet long.

No sectional track was used in its construction, as it was made from sheet PVC, according to a post on OWH.

The NBRC (Nantasket Beach Race Club) is scheduled to race at Lenjet tonight, Wed, February 6. My current race data sheets do not give me the lap times that the Production Class race produced during the video or during that race. If Dave Muse attends tonight's race, I'll ask him to pull out the lap time data from that race.

We are scheduled to run Ceramic Super Stock this Sunday at the MARC event held at Lenjet on the Purple. This will be one of the fastest classes we will run on the Purple. If the race is not postponed due to a predicted blizzard, I'll post the times of this class on this site.

Thanks,

I'm not sure of the class but I think the fastest time I saw on the Sovereign was around 3.8 secs.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

I'm not sure if these times were taken from the heats prior to the main event or if they are from the main event. The cars were hardbody, slip-on silicone tires around .424 diameter, stock Tomy arm, 23 tooth gear, stock .350" diameter and wide F1 front tires.

Tom Kanan winner, top 3 times: 3.884, 3.887, 3.893

Rob Hayes second place, 3.829, 3.854, 3.874

John,

I raced HO last night and Modelville was the talk of the night.

We talked about a trip there so I'll keep this in mind and we'll call you first to see what is going on that weekend.

Joseph,

We would love for you and your friends to visit and come and play at Lenjet/Modelville. I may have mentioned that Peter and I both are away on Saturdays that MARC has races in other locations. Usually they are the second Saturday of each month.

This Saturday's race at Lenjet/Modelville appears to be postponed due to the incoming blizzard. We will probably reschedule that race for Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Thank you.

The Purple Mile is beautifully built, but the cars are too fast.  What are the scale speeds on the straights?  Looks like 1/1 NASCAR drivers doing 400 mph.

I like to see nice scale cars, not blurs.

Going too fast was one of the things that killed commercial slot car centers IMO, spectators were not entertained and soon left with no desire to try the hobby.
