Vallejo has brought out some special paint for Lexan, but I use their range of Model Air colours (airbrush) for plastic model and wanted to test them out on Lexan as well:

IMG_2570.JPG

with reduced pressure you can use them on your work desk, bot a paint booth is recommendable.

IMG_2577.JPG

I used Tamiya masking tape for the decoration. The colours are standard model air, backed with crome which gave a deep metallic effect. It looks actually better in real life :-)  The body is 1:32 and for our 32 Open class.

As always, wonderful work. In my delusions of retired, uh.... retiredness(?) , I see myself working on such projects, one after the other, once I retire. But I worry that the luxury of having so much time to do whatever I want will be dominated by one of my other passions... doing nothing. :laugh2:

The method of drop arm hinge on the F1 car #7, I have only seen that one other place, on a Foamy (Dennis Hill) F1 IRRA car.

It is stronger than the normal method and works really well.

Paul, my first (Danish) Retro F1 from 2008 had the same construction:

F1RetroChassis_006_640x480.JPG

And I have used it on a lot of chassis since and can´t remember that a drop arm ever broke off.

Is that a t-shirt that you are using for a background for the pictures?

The F1's are great fun to drive - they handle very well, but are not very forgiving, so you have to "steer" the car into the curves. A challenge for the non-experienced driver :-)

The 3D printed chassis are modified copies of the discontinued German White Point chassis and handles like the original - meaning that with a rather high center of gravity they are also a bit challenging to drive. But we enjoy driving both car types and they are run on the same day in our National Championship Series.
