I was always thinking it was 76 but I may be putting too much stock in the number on the car?

I will concur with 1976 for the time frame. Here is my reasoning:

First photo (body)
From a 1975 Buzz A Rama entry form, I was using a Shadow body like this one
The side dams are stapled full length which is mid 1970s style.

Second photo (frame)
Faas gears, Bullit Heat sinks, L front axle, Orange tires all period correct.
The holes in the can have been enlarged which was occurring at that time.

I was reading some old Rick T builds, looking for dates and clues of the 3.25" rule change. Not quite sure when the STARSHIP was originally built but I found this drawing in the article.

Notice the width of the rear wheels.

Martin, I mentioned 3 1/16" to you.

From NCC Rules supplement effective August 15, 1969.

Thanks for that Rodney.

I went back to see the NCC rules for 1970 and it says this. Tell me this is not confusing :wacko2: check NOTE bottom left.

...and this pic in the NCC rules clearly shows 3'' max wheel width. So whats up with that?

I only recall NCC rules run in some Group 20 races. They were not universally used for other classes I raced
in here in New England during the '70s. My best guess is the magazine article with the 3 1/16" + or - 1/32"
wheel width is a misprint. I've never come across anyone using that width.

50 years later and the hobby still doesn't have a universally accepted rule set. Other than IRRA every race I have ever been in has been house rules in one form or another.
