There is nothing wrong with the current IRRA Stock Car rules. The cars handle just fine when set up correctly. My suggestion to John Martin is to go to a smaller pinion to slow the car down and improve the cornering ability and drivability. Sounds like some harder tires are in order--I always use wonder rubber on these cars to loosen them up. Just some suggestions

I dont think there are any current scale appearing stock car bodies available? The ones I have seen have a cockpit instead of a roof and are hideous examples. I can see where younger racers would relate better to current models, if they existed..............

When you talk younger racers relating to the "ancient" stock cars that their great grandparents watched, then I assume you are OK with racing a car with a frame that their grandfather used to race. LOL
Any of the "modern" stock car bodies are nothing but blobs IMO and so if they can relate to blobs so be it

Um, it's called retro for a reason???
Seriously, if it's such a great idea, start something up. Let's not start tweaking the heck out of an existing succesful program. Or adding endless classes. That was part of the downfall of USRA, IMO...trying to be everything to everyone.

I have no idea where Duf stands on this issue.
But, John S. post 32 is exactly how I feel.
Go ahead and start something new, but don't mess with IRRA. It works as is.

John, maybe you haven't noticed but the tweaking has already started. LOL It will only get worse from here on out................

Rick, you are wrong. Laugh away, Sir. The only "tweaking" is people starting new groups that are similar to IRRA - wannabes- .
The original, and best, IRRA , remains solid as a rock. The only thing getting "worse from here on out", as you put it, is people who think they can make a better mousetrap by making slight modifications to the original mousetrap, instead of creating something totally original and new. Nobody is stopping you from creating a better, or new, racing series. Why don't you leave the original IRRA alone, and create your new moustrap, instead of ridiculing those of us who are happy with the way things are ?
Respectfully,
Pablissimo

Pablo, who's laughing away?
And time will tell if I am wrong or not? When orgs and such become agenda driven, that's a bad thing!
PS: That was NOT respectful, that was your opinion of my opinion and mean spirited. IMO

Well I agree with Jim Fowler--- slow the cars down and everything gets easier to drive and tighter finish's! But I have to agree also that the IRRA is very successful--why mess with it?? Out in the west at BPR--we're having some of the best racing and largest turnouts in the last several years--and we downsized with LESS class's and there's MORE racers!! Go figure--it doesn't take a LOT of different class's to get a lot of racers interested--just good class's and well run races!! If you like different class's--I'm sure your track owner will let you run your OWN series and see if it attracts more racers. The proof will be in your pudding--go for it! All racing is good!

Consistancy of classes is one of the keys to a successful racing series IMO and the success of the IRRA is proof of this.

Rick, I disagree about agenda driven being a bad idea. It's when too many people are trying to steer the ship that the boat hits a reef. Right now the current BOD has a clear agenda and they are sticking to it with subtle tweaks to hopefully make things better for the participants. Not everyone will agree with the way things are done, but at least the changes are small. When people are winning with chassis and bodies that are 3 years old, that's a good program.

You see John, you think I am dissing the IRRA and nothing would be further from the truth. You need to look around the entire country and watch what's going on. although I may not agree withall that does, it in no way means I am implying THEY have an agenda. Their mission has been pretty steady from beginning to now................
