I'm heading over to the track now if anyone is running early.

The Sano Warm-up early birds, Sano Dave and Howie.
Sano was overheard trying to convince Howie to stay on Saturday for a Flat track warm-up.
Suspicious looking characters spotted at Chicagoland Raceway.....! lol

Howie battled with Sano Dave for the win.
They were on a pretty good pace until they got down to Purple and Black and lost concentration.
KVP had a bullet car , but a bad wreck in the donut had a rail pop out of the nose pc......or visa versa.

We managed to scare up 7 for the Flat track.
Howie edged out Sano Dave by 1 lap for the win.
Late arriving Chuck, with a lap award for the 2 heats he missed, slightly below the average guys were running, rounded out the podium, 3 laps behind Sano.

Winning with an FK isn't a big deal on the Flat track.

Most of us ran PD's because we were too lazy to change motors for the flat after racing on the King all day
I normally run FK's on the Flat but wanted to try a PD for giggles. Plus I am saving some new F7's and TSR's I had horded for the actual Sano

The nice thing about this years September Sano Warm-up was not being a points race, it was pretty casual, and it gave
me a chance to really wring out the new JK Retro Hawk that we'll be using as a handout at this year's Sano.
Having 2 of these, as far as I could tell, this one ran identical to the other one I tested, tore apart, metered and dewound for IRRA approval.
Geared 8-26, with .800ish tires, I ran a 4.89 in practice before I handed over this less than svelte 126+ gram car to an old friend, Mark Rosenwinkel,
to run unclassified in the F1 B Main.
Despite never racing a Retro car before, and only racing again, for the first time in 7(?) years, this past Wednesday,
he finished 2nd and would of normally moved up, if it was after Oct. 1 official legality date. He also ran 2nd fast time in the "B".
When Howie wrecked 2 cars in the F1 A Main and guys agreed to let him switch cars, I then gave him the same car just at it finished
the B Main. He knocked down a 4.98 on Purple and went 6 heats with the car.
With my Friday night and Saturday morning practice to break in the lanes, and Mark's pre-race practice, the motor went a solid 2 1/2+ races,
before I took the below pics after Howie was done with it in the A Main.
I ran the car earlier tonight and even on the shorter tires, I managed a 4.91 on Blue and a 4.97 on Purple, albeit with the track more broken in from
2 birthday parties on Sunday.
The below pics show the nice brush life and also demonstrate how easy it is to monitor the brush length, with the bigger can opening.
Top brush.
Bottom brush.

Although the stacks have Sharpie marks on them, I didn't see evidence of any correction on the 2 I have.

Is that bottom brush even fully seated yet? Looks like that edge still has the reverse curve.

They both sort of look that way.
The brush track is full width.
