Can anyone tell me if there is any point in buying these then. They are $2 more than the standard Falcon7

 "Screamer" Motor -
Magnets are re-zapped for extra speed and torque
Our Price
$14.99 USD

Buy one of each and see for yourself, it is only a $2 investment.

T-LN All I can tell you is that the PCH Screamer Motor will have more punch when you hit full throttle and it will have better brakes for a few races but if you run them too hot you will lose both and they will not run any better than any bag motor.

Les, do you really believe that ?

I am not too sure that there has been a definitive answer offered on this subject.  Several posters have spent some time making fun of the idea of zapping the  new falcon motor and in particular the listings of one Ken-O on his zapped Ebay "racing motors".  Next when asked about the zapped falcon motors offered by a member of this board one person states that out of the bag they have more punch and better brakes.  Am I to assume that this business who makes post on this board has one of the mythical "size of a house" magnet zappers?

I have usually brought the Zapped motors, but there is always fast and slow ones. Some of the other guys brought a bunch of old Falcon 7 motors before they ran out. there was no real difference between the two. With about the percentage of fast V's slow between the 2 groups.

For the last race, I had 5 from PCH and 5 from BP. The PCH ones were faster and ran cooler than all the BP ones.

Well, if you really think zapping Hawk7 motors helps, try zapping the motor 3 times, turning the arm 120 degrees for the 2nd & 3rd zap.

Don't forget to click the heels of your Ruby Slippers 3 times in between each zap. That'll do the trick for sure.

Foamy, you have the largest, most powerful, zapper in he country, other than the military. Real easy, run a few motors, take them and zap them and run them again. Report back.......,

At least now everyone is happy that the new Falcons are here, they are still the same crap shoot that they were before, and you pays your money and takes your chances.....  Not as reliable as the TSR D3, nor as consistent, but there is the choice.....

At the Checkpoint Cup, let's hope that we have the same kind of close racing as we did last year, that is why we only go with one motor, and why it is easier for Bryan to mark them and the raceway to sell them afterwards.... No need for additional motors in hand outs....

Mill, Mill, Mill, there you go again. "not as reliable" what a crock of chit! When reliable is a key word with slot car motors there will be a warranty card attached...... lol

Rick, I am only speaking from experience, mine and several other racers... Your mileage may vary, but I can tell you, we have had a lot more Falcon 7 motors blow than we have TSR D3 motors, and since you do not race them nearly as often as we do, I will take into account that you are not informed.....

Philippe, correct me if I am wrong

Philippe, correct me if I am wrong

As far as I know and over the past almost 7 years of observing Falcon 7 and TSR D3 motors, I have to agree, While frankly very few of each have "blown" or have had a catastrophic failure (they fail when they run out of brushes, not by exploding), and despite that the same factory builds both, it seems that the TSR D3 have always provided a better service to the racers, are more consistent than the Falcons, run cooler and last longer.

It provided D3, then SCRRA and other organizations with a very reliable and fast motor, one able to help the first 15 qualifiers of major races to fight within a tenth of a second over a 4.1 to 4,2-second lap. I would call that rather consistent and cannot think of many motors in the history of the hobby that provided such close racing for so little money.

The latest batch of Falcon 7s I am told run well and the motors are a lot more consistent than they used to be, possibly due to stricter quality control.

This is from an early report of course, time will tell.

It is also interesting to note that one of the most vocal opponents of the Falcon-type motor over the years now markets his own version of it, which is of course now touted as the 8th Marvel of the World. A touch of hypocrisy?  Never mind. :)

well... I'm gamed. If it helps, I'll try those zapped motors. I can't afford to buy 100 motors to find a few fast ones.

It's a shame you guys don't allow the new JK Retro Hawk.

The consistency and longevity of them has been outstanding.

Mmm TSR there many of that are wondering about the chain of events. But you are correct... so many not liking the Falcon 7, and within the last coulpe of years behold the Hawk 7, Evil ,Deamon . And now the JK Retro. Looks like these small cheap motors have a big market.
Mainly those of us that do not want to build expensive motors and then have to go through all you have to do to keep them running. Because you have sooo much money invested in them.

Ok back to zapping FX type motors. What is the factory gauss and then what is the gauss of the zapped motors.
I know the answer but let me ask and someone else answer.

How do you know if you are not doing the zapping and you're dealing with crimped/sealed motors?

I just checked the Falcon 7, Hawk 7 and new JK retro motors. They all gaussed about 1350 on my meter. The magnets all appeared to be exactly the same. Falcon 7 had the tightest airgap. What does it all mean?......

All this smoke and mirrors talk of zapping the magnets, there is a much more effective means of gaining speed.

It's quite simple really. First, let the motor sit overnight in a freshly-opened can of red bull. Have an iPod, computer or stereo nearby playing "Fuel" by Metallica all night long. Break in under red bull for 15 seconds in the morning, put in the car and you're almost ready! Then, just channel the spirit of the late Ayrton Senna right before the start of the race.
