Well, finally I mustered some energy and finished the last details on the Neckcheese Racing entry for the LM race this coming weekend in Neumünster, Germany.

The chassis is the latest edition from my good friend Fola with carbon parts replacing the usual Plafit-parts. Body and decals are also from Fola. The car is a Courage-Nissan that ran in Le Mans in 1999 and was chosen because of the nice, but hopelessly difficult paint job.

I tried to be ready in good time before the race and the chassis was ready in late September, but for different reasons, the time just ran away for me and later the project was struck by accidents, both while decalling and painting the body, so I had nearly given up the whole thing :-(

But now the car is ready :-)  My plan was not to make a stunning 20 concours point showcase, but a nice looking decent racer, fit for this prominent race which is entered by a lot of beautiful cars.
The light kit is homemade and very basic.

But here is the result: better looking on pictures than close up in real life  :-)

This Jig Saw Puzzle will eventually be a nice slot car chassis :-)

Finished with the Neckcheese "Back to basic" light kit

I have a lot of experience in repairing faults  and mishaps, which was a great luck in this situation :-)

So now at least the car is ready for Friday's trip to Germany - we can only hope that the drivers are fit as well

Your persistance paid off Niels.  It's always great to see what is happening in the model car racing scene.

Good luck this weekend!

Go get 'em, Niels! While you may not view it as up to your usual standards, it looks really swell from here!

Came out really well Niels :D  Love the look of the chassis with the brass & carbon fiber. Are the chassis commerically available?

Paul,

Yes.  Search for Fola Osu here and on Google.

I'm not familiar with these cars at all. What are the "electronics" in the center of the chassis? Is it related to the lighting system?

Yes, this is electronics that converts the input of 18-11 volt to 5,5 volts for the light kit + the super cap capacitors that feeds the leds when the track current is missing, meaning that there is still lights on the cars when you are breaking and also for some time, when the car stops for track calls and lane changes
