While the new Hawk Retro FK motor has proven to be competitive and reliable, it shall remain the racer's decision to use them in those classes where they are allowed with the other permitted motors.

Dan at Pro Slot just released a new FK Spec motor. Any chance that one gets approved for IRRA racing? The real IRRA that is...

Seems more dependable than previous designs. Also ran a lot cooler then previous designs.
Each to their own.

Did you run a 9 tooth, that should be the gear with a 29 or 8/26, near same... at about 135 grams.
I luv 'em.

In Can-Am the winner ran 9/28 and the others ran 8/27 or 8/28.
This hillclimb is only 120 feet but very fast.

I haven't put hardly any time in my Stock Car so I can't really tell from Saturday's race. I really stunk it up with my Stock Car. Had a lot of fun which supersedes everything else.

If you use a 8/27 or 9/29 gears in your GT Coupe car, the Retro Hawk will have plenty of brakes on the King track at Slots. The lighter weight makes a big difference here.

I know the ratios can be the same sometimes using 8s and 9s with whatever spur. But what else is or can be different, aside from slight difference in turning weight, in the larger gears, which I consider somewhat important. You think there's more work for the motor using the 9 vs 8??
I would ask Phil Robertson but he ain't answering any more questions...

Theoretically seems that little weight as little as it is, the 8/26 may be better? Or is it a wash?

Actually I think we need Howard Wolowitz on this.

That was the family name before they got to Ellis Island.

John,

Yep, to me it's always been about fun... not the challenge to beat everybody... just doing my best with what I got. So I guess I'm just challenging myself.. don't get me wrong, I like to win.. .but I like my own challenge to run my best the most with what I got. And i'll do better next time... knowing I did the best with what I got makes me the happiest.
I don't worry anymore about beating the guys spending the big bucks to win. I was there once (thanks to Terry Kelly...his bucks). Winning more than losing.
Believe it or not I'm having just as much fun (won one Retro race in a year).
Just don't set your standards so high (to avoid disappointment ) to beat the Matts, Ralphs, Captains or the latest greatest driver of this period. You'll have more fun, and spend less money. Whatever is said... remember money and youth (hand to eye coordination and eyesight) and knowledge will usually win.
If you don't want to do that or can't... so what, I still had a ball racing somebody.
So can you...
Just try it...

John,
You NAILED it! That is what this is all about. And from the car count at retro races recently, It seems to be working. But don't rule out the veterans. Have you seen the line up in the A & B mains?
