Even in the A Main, you'll get a fair number of track calls so if you gain five or six feet every time that happens from roll, you gain a lot of ground on a 120' track.

Don't get too excited about this race.
Then you can get excited about me TQ'ing and running fast race lap on a Gerding super-duper speedway King with a motor with well over two hours on it.

Or you can get excited, with proof that these $12.95 motors will run at least five races, that you have $2.59 invested in your HP for the race, about 40 cents less than the McRib you invested in for lunch. LOL.

I am not sure if this is good news or bad news? LOL...
Reader dependent.
Don't get too excited about this race. It's a track that is well suited to FK motors. I won the summer Can-Am race with a TSR, which proved on this track, the FK motors work as well as the PD motors.
Even in the A Main, you'll get a fair number of track calls so if you gain five or six feet every time that happens from roll, you gain a lot of ground on a 120' track.
Yup... coasting on track calls... what a way to gain spots, it was fun(ny) for a while but... it don't feel very Retro to me when 'passing' is done with the power off.
I must have Pinewood Derby Syndrome.

So you're saying I should just put the hundreds of dollars in Puppy Dogs on the shelf. I'd rather the race either be FK or a Puppy Dog. Not both. I personally don't like either option but would rather have the FK motors.

Mixing the motors up, especially with this new player, will not be a plus, but a minus for Retro racing. I have already gotten PMs about this situation and those that are vested in PD motors are not pleased.
You guys are at liberty to write the final chapter, choose wisely...

Besides... I heard it was all set-up and tuning.Motor means nothing. At least that's what a lot of people said during a previous flame fest. So everyone who dismissed motor performance as a factor please refrain from commenting here.
Besides, we've spent way more on hotels and food then on motors.

That doesn't make it correct. One motor should be designated in a class.
Huh? As mentioned a couple posts ago, IRRA has permitted FKs since its inception.
There have always been fast FKs.
I remember seeing someone turn a 4.88 with a Falcon 7 at R4/2 in 2009.
The fast race lap for the previous two GTC-FK winners was much faster than this year's winner, running the Retro Hawk.
So Jerry is wrong in supplying a motor that's more consistent, has way less duds, and last multiple races?
If this was a some sort of "I have to use my Puppy Dog program", because of the money invested, why did 70% of the racers invest a whopping $2.59 to race a Retro Hawk this weekend at the Retro East race?

But this is six years later and most racers are vested in PD motors that they have cultivated over the years. We went down this road before and pi$$ed off a bunch when the wind changed from 80 to 75 turns and then again when short wound motors were brought into the mix.
Retro has survived two fiascos but three is a charm.
Time has come to get rid of the "list" and go back to basics.
CA and F1 Tier 1 - PD motors ONLY.
GTC Tier 2 - motors ONLY.

Nothing about guys complaining about the miniscule $2.59 they had to shell out to get their car around the track for the day.
Time to move this to another thread if I can squeeze behind our Bethlehem backdrop in the office. LOL.

You can make light of the situation and folly it with the $2.59 motor. It's pretty transparent of who is in whose camp.
The issue here is that the balance of Retro racing is about to be upset. This hobby is so fragile and always at its breaking point. Just as we/you/they/I have made a place for about everything that someome manufactures, this is no different. It's easy to undo the "list" which is ridiculous anyway, since all the A Main types have been moved or at least 98% of them, and return to GTC-FK and mandate FK only again. Let the FK barons fight it out in their own forum...

Sorry I hit a nerve how the Retro Hawk has been the best bang-for-your-buck piece of equipment in Retro history.
I spend more than $2.59 on Big Mama braid per race (when I can get it LOL).

Yes, it is obvious who is making the profit here.
Jerry Kulich and the slot car distributors and, most importantly, the raceways who sold the motors to the 82% of the Stock Car entries and 70% of the Can-Am entries at the last Retro East race that sparked this thread.
