Are we still going to try to have a race at Tom Thumb in Jan or Feb, or is this race in place of it?
Jim "Butch" Dunaway
I don't always go the extra mile, but when I do it's because I missed my exit.
All my life I've strived to keep from becoming a millionaire, so far I've succeeded.

No matter how big of a hammer you use, you can't pound common sense into stupid people, believe me, I've tried.

This is not a replacement race... still plan on having an Ohio Valley Retro race there in Jan or Feb... it will make a good warm-up race before the March race.
I talked to Mike at Tom Thumb today and he is so stoked and excited about this racing, it can only help Retro racing on a local and national level.
We already have several sponsors lined up for the event and more will unfold over the next week or so.

I should make an effort to get to this one since my Dad, Mom, 4 sisters and bro were all born near Cambridge Family owned coal mines but moved to CA in the 40's and began building saw mills.

Let me know what I can do to help. I'm sure I can get REH to donate some prizes, they always do when I ask.

I'm definitely UP for that... HUMBLENESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS. I do, however, expect to be treated like God when I win.We plan on serving all you out-of-towners a slice of humble pie.
Somebody get Pizza Hut as a sponsor, please.

Can you persuade the raceway to set up a flat track in addition to the King? King tracks are OK, but flat tracks RULE!

I'm going to Columbus on Saturday. I'll see if I can get over there and get some pictures. My only problem is my camera is 10 mega pickles and I don't know how to down size it so it will fit on Slotblog.

About the website...YUCK Please forget about that nasty thing until I can get the new one up. The website was something I REALLY wanted to do myself but I finally admitted that I needed to pay someone with more time and MUCH more skill than I to finish it. I will try and find some recent pics and post them. The track is being rebraided now so new pics would not show much.
Since I have been "out of the loop" for over a year and a half I welcome any suggections or comments on how to make this event even better. I am trying to read all I can on these forums as time allows. The Retro racing is a fantastic idea. I am very excited. Any help appreciated.
BTW... Please tell me there is no rule against the host racing in his own event... PLEASE!!!

Mo entries mo betta. Having the ability to beat the track owner - priceless... Any help appreciated... Please tell me there is no rule against the host racing in his own event...
I am quite sure Ron and those that are helping you will cover the bases very well but here's a few quick thoughts:
1) Hotel/Motel listings with approx mileage from Raceway and even a rating as to area & comfort.
2) Places to eat.
3) Places of interest for wives, SO's
4) Good directions to raceway from Airport.
5) Hours of operation during event.
6) Raceway info.
a. Layout, pit space, etc
b. Track specs
1. Power
2. Power taps
3. Braid recess
4. surface paint (this must be a particle board track, yes?)
There might be an outline somewhere on OWH or elsewhere. Rest assured I'll come up with more unless you're scared already.
Ah, a raceway history would be awesome!
WELCOME ABOARD, MIKE, YOU LUCKY DOG.

I also need to go to Richmond, IN, and take a picture of that track so I'll send that one to you for sure.
Thanks much.

See if there is a setting for email... that will give you a smaller pic.

Please post the pix on the "Track Pictures - Vintage and Current" thread, if you wouldn't mind?
