Awesome, related thread drift...

I believe either "to" or "from" would be correct in this instance...it is both 90 degrees to its original & 90 degrees from its original, especially if one inserts "at" prior to 90.

But, then again, language is my native tongue and I do as well as I can.  :laugh2:

hey gator,

If you could make both motors operate with the same brush system but with a 90 degree reset of the com, they would develop the same torque and horsepower curve when contact is at 90 degrees; however with the both brushes with the arms hinged at 1 point, they wear in a arc and change the 180 degree contact patch and depending on their original length could be plus or minus to their initial setting. That is where the Mabucci motor holds the timing points at 180 degrees opposed to each other even the Russkit  34 with adjustable timing maintained this 180 degree interface between the brushes.

Now I can see how "to" makes sense.

I was reading "to"  as "going to" and wondered if Mabuchi 36D's somehow had a previous/original version with vertical brushes. LOL

Hi George .. :bye:

Let me see if I get it ... the 180 changes as the 'swing arm' type wear down.

Wow I just started think about all the happenings going on in a Fk motor starting with the brush radius being 90 deg. out...  :sarcastic_hand:

Hey ya all, In the sixties realtime, with pittman and ram motors by using 1 longer and 1 shorter brush arm the advance could be affected and if you were really cool the brush material could be changed.....hence the amount and type of conductor could be varied and it did wake up the American made train motors.

Gator ,

Yes, so the timing would constantly be changing from the intended 180 degrees opposed separation.

exactly! and if you look at the newbie model, it looks like the brush placement has been changed for timing purposes.

I think if you look at the diagrams, it is a illustration of the place differential of the brushes in initial contact placement.

Best of luck and all have a safe trip.

I do get the Koford drawing now .. It's the relation to the center line that is wack.
