Gugu Bernardino of Red Fox has produced tooling for manufacturing of a new crown gear for Retro racing.
I have completed the testing on these new gears and I am very pleased with the final product. They will be produced in a black polymer in three sizes - 27t, 28t, and 29t in 48 pitch using a 3/32" hub. They run very true, are light, and mesh very nicely.
Now that testing is completed, Red Fox will begin producing them to get them out to distributors soon. I do not know what the retail cost will be. The product is very good and I'm sure all the racers who try them will be very pleased.
Thanks to Gugu and Red Fox Racing Products for investing their time and money in such a way to benefit Retro and its racers. Look for them very soon.

Whoopee! A crown gear that has a 3/32" hub.
What a concept! I hope the price is competitive.

Now this is some good news and coming from Matt B it's got to be good.
Looking forward to the new gears in Retro endorsed by one of best slot car drivers out there.

A 26t crown gear would be nice, too. Just a suggestion.

Through the grapevine, they weigh .8 G.
I don't have any in my possession.

Notice the hub is lightened; how will this mesh (pun intended) with the rule that disallowed lightened Parma gears??

No different than the Parma.
They won't be allowed to be lightened.

The gears are not lightened, they will come from the factory that way.

Yeah, great news. I'll be looking forward to these! And I have to agree with Russ (not-Troy) that adding a 26-tooth to the selection would be the icing on this cake.
And they are not PINK! I won't have to dye the dang-dern things! (I apologize for my aesthetic pet-peeve, but when I would look down between the exhaust pipes on some F1 bodies, or through the rear window on some coupes that I had just painted and mounted and see that honkin' hideous Pepto-Bismol colored gear sticking out like a sore thumb, well, to put it as nicely as possible, it kind of made me want to regurgitate...)

Nice-looking gears, but I think Rick Davis has a point.
If these gears are going to be legal, then why not allow the same modifications to Parma gears?
I'm not talking about the Matt Bruce/Bryan Warmack style mods, just those that anyone can do with a Dremel or a file.

Why not 64 pitch? JK has them.
Wayne,
The tooth profile and the fact that they are designed for lightweight cars with low power motors makes them incompatible for use in "Retro" cars.
You're free to use them, Wayne. Go for it.
I sense a bit of sarcasm?
Wayne is a new poster and might be new to "Retro" and is trying to learn by asking a valid question.
