Anyway you are running 30 ft. of choke with a lighter car on a flat track.
Apples and oranges.

Duffy and Philippe,
I enjoyed reading your tech stuff on polymers and these gears, especially the glass fill percentage. I work in an industry that uses a lot of Ultem and PEEK, both unfilled and either 15% or 30% glass filled. I wonder what type of plastic the gears are?
The new gears look awesome, can't wait to try them out.

In the overall scheme of things, the cost of crown hears isn't very much. I really dislike having to sleeve the Parma gear.
Speaking of gears, I always though it odd when I would solder a expensive hardened pinion on to a cheap Falcon motor.

George,
I used to think the same till I went to SpeedZone,HVR,and PJR.

Bic lighter breakin on hypoid setups apparently work okay, nice.

In all the years I have been using the pink Parma 48 pitch gears I have only once had a problem and it was only a case of some of the plastic teeth not being fully formed.........a simple injection problem and I just returned it. Other than that, NEVER a single problem and I am presently removing 1/2 the hub to lighten them. No problems with the sleeves and sometimes they aren't PERFECTLY concentric but it poses no problems whatsoever. I just set the backlash at the tightest spot and if it's a little loose on the other side it has never seemed to make a difference.
I have never broken them in, have always run full hypoid, and I have never had a Parma gear problem in almost 7 years of Retro racing......... Basically bulletproof in my experience and I'm sure the Red Fox's will be just as good.
That GuGu would come out with a gear to compete with the ubiquitous Parma seems to reflect the overall healthy status of Retro slot car racing in general!

Yup to what Ray said.. Listen to some of his old 60s comedy albums.
The first one I heard was 'Side Splitter' at about 8 years old... ... and who Didn't like Sanford and Son?
RIP Mr. Sanford.
Now back to the Red Fox gear commercial announcement. If they are 'better' than others on the market it's all good.
Big thanks to GuGu for creating options

These gears have been out awhile now any feedback on them?
Do they make the motor run better then a Parma?
Does the extra noise hurt the performance?
Is there a good mesh?
Anyone run a few races with one?

No gain or loss in performance, they do make a lil more noise. I haven't run one in a race so I can't comment on durability

When the Parma's are set up correctly with a new pinion they typically make no noise. Noise is not good IMO. We shall see!!!
