The chassis is a repro "clone" of a k&b by hotrodfab...I built a few of them years back and they have been hiding in the basement since then...2003/4???

Well I really like the old school rides you guys are showing,
Paul if yours sounds like a Mura I'm going to get shellacked and I don't mean the windings on the arm ...
I neglected to tell you guys that the track is wire positive to the right (as if sitting in the car) which is pretty much the standard ... If anyone has it reversed it will be corrected.
I am concerned about the # of entries that will make it.
So far there seems to be more committed than confirmed and Don S. a great lover of these cars has a schedule delay and I want him to be able to join in.
Thanks to David C. and Bob S. for sending email per the shipping guidelines.

Don't worry Bob, although it sounds/screams like a full tilt Mura , there's no guarantee this thing will stay in the slot Especially with a monster energy drink like shot of 14.7 Volts!!!!!
Got VW with Pittman/Mura I love it
It's a shame Don S. is delayed would of loved for him to take part

Mine is now in the hands of FedEx...
It's going kind of bare bones (couldn't fit the plastic motor at last minute), but at least it's going!
Is mine the only period-built car that will be running?

While is after midnight here on the east coast please consider when I use the word Today as Thurs. 5/15
Ray P, I hear ya ... 'out' is an acceptable answer.
Bob S, Your cars arrived safe per my discussion with Bill P. today 5/15
Ralph Thorne of RTR did a great job on the box plaques and the Winner thing-a-ma-jig for the throphy base. They arrived on time, on budget and just the way they were ordered. Check out his other goodies in the rolling banner at the top of the page. Thanks Ralph!
I ordered 24 Participant, 2 Best Engineeered and 2 Best appearing.
The intent on the 8 extra Participant plaques was:
1)... to give them out to the 'drivers' that are coming out on an 'off night' to join the fun. Keep in mind the 'local' here in the state of Florida can be a 60 mile trip ..one way.
2) To try to make it worth while for Ralph T. on the ultra short run on the 'BE' and 'BA' plaques.
I may have come up with an idea on how to give them all out even though the field looks like it is going to be much shorter than I had hoped for and expected
Back to speaking with Bill P. today.
I asked about delaying the event to another date with my concerns of.
A - With the 15 cars that were confirmed he only gets 75 bucks in entry fees, I think it is 'only fair' that he gets at least that much and now it looks less that will show up. Bill said thanks Bob
B - Could he get the Videographer guy at another date. From my eperiance with a few proxy races 'See my car on track' is a big part of the fun. In taking the liberty to assume you guys do too. Bill said yes he could.
C- Could he reschedule the 'Drivers' to come out. Bill said yes but would like to give them fair notice. I agree.
Friday night is Drag night at the Raceway.biz shop. Bill said he would like to tell the guys at the race tomorrow but it would not be that big of a deal to shoot out an email to the drivers over the week end.... "It's your race Bob, It's your call"... I replied "it is 'only fair' to tell the guys Friday night and not have them worry over the weekend about whether to come on Monday or not. I'll make the call of run them or postpone by their regular drag race time on 5/16 @ 7PM."
Now ! If it IS postponed and I was Don S. who is shipping the longest distance and High shipping price entry or any of you other guys that scrambled to get them in the mail and paid high shipping costs ..... I'd be pissed.
I'm not exactly sure how to handle that exactly other than paying back out of pocket in cash or parts from my personal stash or the maybe prizes shown to compensate for all the extra effort and freight.
I wanted to get this right out and I'll come back later with the idea on how to get a "Full Field"
Think about that for a little while and post some feed-back comments.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for all your comments and explanations.
Having been on the organizing side of a few of these things, I realize how hard it is! So in other words, don't worry about us - we're all doing this for fun (besides, my company is paying for the FedEx, so I can afford to be magnanimous!).
Participation in proxy (or other...) events is unfortunately often like this: everybody gets excited, commits, then life or laziness or full moons get in the way and we don't finish what we wanted to... The Good Wood proxy had something like 24 commitments at one point, and wound up with 8 cars...
So if you can postpone this a bit to get more entries, that would be fine with me - and maybe I'll even get around to my 65X rail project! (of course, I've got two cars to prepare for Bordo in the meantime, in three weeks, and haven't even started my 1/32 - hmmm, sound familiar guys?)
Cheers,
Don

I expressed the VeeDub to make sure it would arrive on time for Monday. As long as it reached Bill I'm good worth the cash to get it there .
Just with a delay means a few extra days of anxiety of will the thing work/stay in the slot

I had to laugh after reading Don's post about the stages of participation in proxies (or any other races for that matter)...it's easy to over-commit. This is only my second, and I still procrastinated on the task of readying and mailing cars that were already built!!!
If a few days helps out, by all means do it, no problems here; I'd say poll the original entrants and see who might be able to respond. After that, it might start to tilt the playing field a bit, but I have confidence that we don't have any issues. I don't think new entrants should be considered at this point. If we need more money for Bill, or track crew, or any of those things that crop up, just let us know.

The Show Must Go On
I'm going to hold the line on the date after looking at the plaques with the May 19th date on them it seems like the only right thing to do. Those who get their cars in on time will have a better shot at the win, best appearing, best engineered awards and donated handout prizes.
I'm going to open the field up to any racer who shows up on Monday the 19th to run what-cha-brung in the show. They will not be eligible for the overall ET/MPH Winner trophy or the vintage parts goodies in the pot. They will get a Participant plaque and the second BE and BA plaques will also be awarded.
So ... It will be a mix of vintage and modern cars in a one big fun No Glue match race with prizes awarded separately .
Thanks to all those who can and will make it and understanding it will go off even though not exactly as originally planned.
