Thanks All,

Guy's it sounds like I've gotten lucky!  Excited to have this body :sun_bespectacled:

I'll have to speak with Dokk on the rebuild and see just what all is needed on that venture ..

Dokk, Mike I'll take your advice , no holes, no paint. I'm srating to really like the clear body display thing!

I just can't belive it came in where I thought just two 7.00 bodies were showing up, NO IDEA!

I love old bodies repops and feel VERY lucky to own a orignal   :D

Thanks All,

Ben

This is what you need. Chassis:

And a set of these tires and wheels, but in a polished aluminum finish, not black anodized:

Start hunting!

Thanks Dokk,

I have a lot of the smaller parts.  Chassis, Motor, Wheels and Tires, I dont have. I'm pretty sure I have everything else down to the gold welon, pickup, 3 prong spinners, Wires and bushings I think ? I have tons of small parts from the years past...

Cool, Nice old shelf queen, looks brand NEW! :sun_bespectacled:

Thanks all,

Ben

Hey Dokk,

Thanks for the cool info and pics. Yea, I guess I was had on this deal (and paid too much), how ever I can only blame myself as I should have checked here before purchasing. :-)

I really like the info on the Classic car as I think I may have most all parts for that car? Is the chassis the same as the old Manta Ray?

I have the 6 spoke classic wheels, 360 motor, gears, axles and so on. Body will be re-pop :-(  but will look pretty cool just leaving the body clear and painting the second (with red stripe above fender) and painted chrome trim from booth.

I also noticed that one of the links, I think Booth Machine may have the parts for exhaust, light rim and more, just need alclad to rechrome.

Bottom line, I'll take my lumps on the body, and carry on! :-)

Mike, Thanks for your added coments and pictures. Very nice and cool, cool collection of nice old vintage cars! :-)

Dokk, I just purchased your book "Vintage Slot Cars", amazing book, fun reading and Well Done!!

Thanks as always to all,

Ben

You are right I have the body and all the parts. I re manufacture all the classic bodies with exception of roadster.. The plastic parts are un-chromed and you would need to chrome them

Thanks Scott,

I will be in contact on Cassic bodies as I need a few. Also the classic batmobile parts.

Right now I'm working on a BZ batmobile build so the classic must be a little later down the list. NOT LONG THOUGH!  :victory:

I sent you a email well before buying these bat bodies but no response ?

Can you post a good email or PM me, either is fine.

Thanks for posting!

Ben

Hey guys,

I just noticed in the pics Dokk posted above shows the batwagon above to have 3 way chrome spinners, I was thinking I needed the RED bat shaped spinners (Rare items) I have the chrome 3 ways.

Was it the K&B that had the red spinners or was it a on both the K&B or BZ ? I'd really like all true origanal parts when finished...

Thanks,

Ben

Both the BZ and the K&B models had the "Bat Hubs", the Classic never did.
K&B did not make their own Bat Hubs, they purchased them from their competitor.

Ben, "Bat Hubs" are hard to find nowadays, and not cheap when found.

Oh, I know they are Dokk,

I was just thinking/saying if one car had the spinners two would be better. :victory:  Just meant as a joke :dash2: ....

I know they're  rare and exspensive, hope I haven't offended  in anyway!!

I'm known to say things wrong on a keyboard that wasn't meant to be.. :wacko2:

Thanks buddy,

The K&B car is not too easy to find, so as a source for hubs it's  not real likely.    The car you want to build is a neat old slot car, it's not a rare, hard to find car.    There are a lot of options on how to detail and build your car.   You really don't have to go by the book, you can make it the way you like.  Hubs are one example,    You can make resin bat hubs, you can paint knockoffs red or red and black.

You can find all kind of bat logos on the net and  many of them look 100% better than the red sticker BZ used.   Try making some hubs and see  what you come up with.   You might surprise yourself.   Certain of the Batmobile model kits had a 1/24 Batman in them and I used him for a driver in a Classic repro I did a few years ago.

Bottom line is make a fun car you like looking at.    A MIB BZ Batmobile is a collectable piece and worth being careful with and taking care of.  Most built up cars  are just old slot cars so have fun with it.    10-15 years nobody will much care or even know if your car is an original clone.

Well, here is the real thing if that helps... it is in a private museum in Torrance. This is the REAL Lincoln Futura as modified by George Barris, not a later replica.

I hope to have this one in the case and another With a lancer body w/ classic chassis,  36d  and nice painted body, just for running and having fun :) A true repop but pretty Mama !

Thank you both for posting,

Ben

This is the rare 1/24 scale K&B/Aurora Batmobile. Apply only if wealthy...
This interesting model is fitted with a compression, cam-actuated disc brake and a functional dome light, feeding from the braided contacts. Metal-foil stickers, waterslide decals and trim tape were supplied inside the rectangular box inside the outer plastic box. The vacuum formed body was unusually topped by an injcted-plastic twin-bubble cockpit, something almost unique in a vintage slot car.
Not too many examples survived, and collectors go "bat sh*t" trying to get one.

How did it run? Actually not too bad due to its hefty weight applying decent down force on its rear tires. Will it retain its value in the future? Very likely as long as the Hollywood tycoons not yet in jail for sexual assault on their personnel, will continue producing Batman movies.
Nice investment and looks cool on the shelf.

Rare car.  In 35 years of buying and collecting slot cars, I have never ran across the K&B version.

The big question is did George do the Batmobile or did his brother Sam do it?    In reading what little you find about the great customizers in the 50's and 60's, most  say that Sam did  most of the customizing and Geo was the "boss".

I think they both did the work, they both were quite competent. Here is George with me at the LA Auto Show in 2013 on a cold and windy day... He was my friend and I miss the guy...

Yes George was the Boss in customs.. There were many others just not quite his caliber IMHO.

Hey, What car is this chassis for, It's bz but didn't they make a few cars with the same chassis..

3 Grand !! :shok: Is that the norm for the k&b batmobile? (If you find one)

What was the cost new maybe 9.95? If we only knew then what is known now...

I did see a gold colored SC100 by mpc/mdc go for I think it was 1,400 bucks on ebay. I thought that was high..

Was Ed Roth a customs builder and artist or just artist? Man he had some awesome cartoon drawings/painting

Actually it looks OK, but unfortunately the trim tape has been applied, and not that well, and from experience, will be very hard to remove as the glue on that tape is like epoxy and will stick to the body like part of it. Hence if you are ready to cough up the dough if you cannot live without one, be ready for a lot of work to peel it off, then carefully polish the spots where the glue has bonded to the body material...
When you are talking about that kind of money for a slot car, you need to be very discriminating.

What car is this chassis for, It's bz but didn't they make a few cars with the same chassis..

Ben, that chassis was used for the BZ Banshee, the Porsche 906, the Batmobile (if with the Bat Hubs) or the Chaparral 2E (if with wing struts).

Dokk,

Thats great news.. I bought it last night just because it was BZ but wasn't sure what body it belonged to ( Or if origanal BZ )..

Being it's correct for the batmobile body I purchased, it's another COOL piece of the puzzle..

Still some parts to go (weldon gear, wheels and tires) but I'm thinking it's a heck of a good start for the batcar..

Thanks again to all !!

Ben
