Thank you for the suggestion and tips Bob!

What is a sidewinder axle?

And thank you once again for the tires, you rock more than Buddy Holly..:)

am looking for Champion driver busts.....they discontinued them and the usual distributors are out of them....parley, anyone...?

Mikey

PS - I hear Parma is taking a dump - anyone hear anything one way or another?  Jerry and Jackie are basically running out of their staple lineup of cars, motors, gears, etc....

They have long threads on one side and shorter on the other.

Acually and on second thought .. with the setscrew Cox you really only need a an axle with a longer un-threaded center, if it ends up too long sticking through the wheels add knockoffs or put a couple/few steel nuts on before you cut the long threaded ends off to 'chase the threads' after the cut..

Everyone likes 'Champion Busts'   ...  Did you check out Professor Motor for stock?

You never should have said Buddy Holly.   :dance3:  :dance3:

LOL Bob, you crack me UP!  Great video from Da Nineteeeeeeeeees.  What's new, Peggy Sue?

Checked Professor Motor, they don't have Champion busts but I just ordered 2 of the painted Russkit 1/24 repros.  Should look good!

Gonna try using a long axle in the back and tightening up the front so I can use knock offs!

Nice ride there Mikey.

I always wait to paint the body untill after i mount it so I can see what I'm doing. some times I might even take it out for a spin with the clear body on it.

Come to think of it Dom R in Nj might have a few drivers as well.

Yeah baby, just got back from a very local hardware store that had a few 2-56 screws and nuts.  Should be good to attempt mounting in the near future.

Also, last night I played with the front and rear track, I narrowed the front a bit and was able to get two different kinds of knockoffs on the car, 3-ear spinners and acorn nuts, but they looked "Silly!" so I took them off!  Car looks better without knockoffs, strange as it seems.

Bob, the motor went out today, should arrive to you by late next week.

It's fun what you can do with the right hardware, some extra Dynamic "T" Body Mounts, some K&S brass pin tubing, a soldering iron and a Dremel.  Parma front axle collars...and a neat trick I learned from Pete L.

Body is pinned...not pretty but not awful.  Here are a few shots:

I have a Revell BRM body kit that I've had...forever(!) that I could steal side view mirrors from:

HPIM0952.JPG

And added to the car with Elmer's glue for a little detail:

HPIM0951.JPG

I put white out on the pin heads...well tried to...white out isn't as good as it used to be.  Should steal some white nail polish from Mi Madre

Car is done, minus the interior and Kemtron decals...will be DONE done by Sunday methinks.

Your comments, critiques, encouragement and outright flames are welcomed.  LOL! :)

Looking good Mikey. The pin tubes are a nice upgrade. I've got to build me one of those Kellison's!

Straight up Jersey talk .... right Mikey...

The fronts are too big or the backs are too small.

Are the rear wheels wider than the BuzCo fronts?

If not 'too much' switch them when the new rubber arrives.  If it still ain't right I'll have to send you more 'stuff'.

Bob,

Tires came today, they look awesome!  Thank you! Will have to get the Dynamic ones on the rear wheels and true them down.

Took the car to the Race Place this morning, early, it gets around good!  Will look better when I put these tires on..

Those are sharp looking and squeezie fresh too   :D

Hi Bob!

They are beautiful, and scale!  But they do not fit the rims :( Any other 5-hole that would?  Man you are sending me so much great stuff for so little in return, I feel rather sheepish.  Baaahhhh...

The Renwall #325 look like great candidates for the rear.

If you don't need anything for current projects I can donate to the Rods and Rails proxy.  Let me know...

Are the rims to wide and/or to big of a dia.? Are the BuzCo rims the bigger pair?

Don't worry about a trade for now ... I know how it feels to get gifts and not know how to return the favor... plus you already sent a hand out gift for the proxy.

Hi Bob!

*hugs it out*

BuzCo are on the front with the tires you sent with them.  Dalxo are on the rear.  BuzCo are slightly larger diameter and a little skinnier.

Lots of Kellisons were built in the day for drag purposes...would look sick with super tall wide rears and small fronts.

I'm happy with her looks wise but if we can get her mean and nasty that would be sweet.

Tried to do decals tonight...epic failure:

HPIM0953.JPG

Redid the headlights to make it a little less....crappy looking:

HPIM0954.JPG

Here is the painted driver from Professor Motor.  At $12.95 each they are a bit steep but they do look good.  Think I'm gonna glue him to the lams.

HPIM0955.JPG

Bob do you know of a good place to get black card stock?  Michael's?

Mikey, spray a file card with some flat black paint. I've done this several times in the past & it looks good.

Did you say earlier that this body was one of Dom's?

Yep, I do that too.

Or if you have an arts supply shop near you, they usually have a good selection of black cardboard in various thicknesses and textures...

Cardstock - you can also grab swatches at your local paint supply for a nice variety of blacks, browns, and greys etc...

Bill, Don, Simon - thank you for the ideas...I do have a rattle can of flat black, I'll pick up a 50 pack of index cards.  Excellent idea.

Bill - yes, way back when we got the original bodies I gave mine to Dom to make a mold and he did a fantastic job.  He also has a vinyl mask machine...think he's getting $5.00 for a body and mask sheet.  He did a lot of other molds too with fantastic results....basically every Classic car, Garvic, and some other ones he had.  One is a hot rod panel truck that is outta sight! :)

Going to try to swap the fronts to the rears and put the Renwall's on the rears.  Will see how it goes.

Looks better with those BuzCo fronts in the rear, and rears (they are too wide for the tire but that's ok for now) swapped to fronts, Renwall 325 on fronts:

HPIM0959.JPG

Gotta root around the house for a white index card.  A white interior with a 6 hole spare in the back would look like the "Cat's Meow" the "Bee's Knees."  Far out!

Much better ... maybe drop the body a little in the front or raise the rear a 'smidge'..... :)  If you do some 'sidepipes' it will make the tire sidewall mismatch less noticeable. :shok:

You could paint the card to match the stripe and take a wheel and tire off and use it for a template to outline with a pencil and blacken the tire outline with a Sharpie and the 5 holes with silver or gray Bic marker. :clapping:

Or ... put the wheel and tire assm. on a scanner and print it on gray/silver car stock. :D   :wacko2:  :heat:

Oh .. idea ... put an O ring on the inside of the 'too wide' wheels to keep the tire against the bead. :good:

Thanks Bob, those are some great ideas!  I went to the dollar store and got 200 index cards.  Lady in front of me at the register spent $160.00 on paper/plastic silverware and plates.  She must have one helluva shindig coming up!

I went up and down the aisles looking for something for the side pipes but came up with nothing.  Maybe Pete and Rodney can shed some light on me on Thursday.

I have a set of 6-hole wheels from Dynamic in my parts stash, was gonna throw some rubber on one and put em under the rear window as a spare.

Small coffee stirrers from WaWa .. pinch one end with 'warm' pliers then trim the flaired pinched part to look rounded ... and bologna cut the other end... then paint them silver and black sharpie in the pipe.  A second set of body pins in a pinched pin tube as a stop to not crush the pipe.... or just crazy glue the damn things on ..  :laugh2:
