IRRA® has been awarded a Federal trademark

Why is this such a big deal? Registered trademark status will allow IRRA® to better protect its "brand" and to ensure that when a race is advertised as using IRRA® rules, those rules will be followed exactly as written for the benefit of all racers and for Retro racing itself.
As far as we have been able to determine, this is the very first time a slot car sanctioning or rulesmaking body has secured a federal trademark registration for its logo.

The outcome was never in doubt. Just a matter of time.
Congratulations.

Greg, I'll change my use of the term on my website to now include the circle R if you wish?
Did you realize it's a Service Mark and not a Trade Mark you were granted?

That would be fine, Victor.
Yes, and we are aware of the difference. For those who don't know, here is the exact language from the Trademark office:
What is a trademark?
A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or a combination thereof, that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others.
What is a service mark?
A service mark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or a combination thereof, that identifies and distinguishes the source of a service rather than goods. The term "trademark" is often used to refer to both trademarks and service marks.
They're basically the same, it's just that one is for goods and one is for services.

Greg, congratulations, IRRA® finally got the trademark that Noose claimed you had two years ago.

From the USPTO website:
"If you claim rights to use a mark, you may use the "TM" (trademark) or "SM" (service mark) designation to alert the public to your claim of ownership of the mark, regardless of whether you have filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)."

certainly nothing worth spending money on
It is kind of a shame that they were forced to spend money on it.

Sam, if you had any idea about trademark law, but I will just consider the source. I tried to warn the IRRA members years ago, Sam, but it really does not matter now, nothing to win anyway, certainly nothing worth spending money on
But worth you flappin' yer gums about.
Well... tappin' yer keyboard about.
So Mill,... what part of what Greg said is not true? Since you know so much about trademark law. Just the facts. No BS.
Greg's facts came from the USPTO.
