There were a number of records broken and new ones set this weekend at RetroPalooza. Most notable of course was Matt Bruce breaking the record for most laps on a King track in Retro.

The previous record was 351 held by Chris Radisich when he did it at Mid-America in the ROC around two years ago on 14.3 volts too.  att's new record of 354.8 on 13.7 is the new standard to shoot for.

Here are the records set for Port Jeff this weekend.

King Track
Can-Am
Qualifying - Ray Duran - 3.902
Total Laps - 354.8 - Matt Bruce
Fast Race Lap: 3.926 - Preston Meyer

GTC - FK
Qualifying- 3.908 - Matt Bruce and Chris Radisich
Total Laps: 349 - Chris Radisich
Fast Race Lap: 3.986 - Chris Radisich

Hill Climb
Stock Cars
Qualifying - 4.580 Gary Clinton Jr.
Total Laps - 304 - Gary Clinton Jr.
Fast Race Lap - 4.497 Jimmy Williams Jr.

Formula 1
Qualifying - 4.033 - Chris Radisich
Total Laps - 339 - Joe Salzman
Fast Race Lap - 3.967 - Matt Bruce

I'll be posting some other stuff too over the next couple of days as I tally up things.

The King track was fast and of course a lot easier on the "crews" than the hillclimb.  The Deadman was just that.  It had "law enforcement" entrenched everywhere.  You got shot every time you missed your mark.  Here's how Blondie felt about it.  And remember, she's won a Retro East race on a hillclimb.

Me too but I was in the D Main and had visions of doing a "Chris".  Those visions turned to nightmares.

Hmm...in the Stock Car race there were none.  All had made an A Main before in something.

In GTC-FK there were 3

In Can-Am there were none

In F1 there none.

John Weaver raced his way into the F1 A main. Aside from can-am on Saturday, he's never run a retro race outside of the NERR series or modelville hobby/rapid raceway

Yeah but he's been in A mains there. We were checking to see if it was a first time for anyone in any a main. Yanno Jersey John style.

Hey guyze and gals,

Thank you all for helping me get through a tough weekend with my living with MS. Slot racing provides a real hand eye coordination test but that racing slot car drug seemed to get those 16 year old hormones running for the finish line. The choir is getting faster and the soloists are also. JJ is trying some soloist songs but he remembers his roots.......keep up the good harmonies. Thanks to all who came and to those choir members who could not attend this show.

R.P. 5 May be over with but it won't be forgotten any time soon.
Thanks to Doug and his crew for having the raceway and the tracks ready for us.

Another great performance for Matt Bruce as he sets a new track record of. 354.8 laps on a king.

And what can you say about Chris Radisich who qualified in the " G " main and marched is way all the way to the A main. 2'300 laps
And did it all on the same hawk motor . Kidding, I'm kidding . He changed motors after the " D " main.

But for me the best part was after the Can/Am race. My brother from another mother Ed Sohl invited everybody who was at the track
Back to his house for some good food and cold beer, and some great stories of racing back in the day.

So a special thanks to Ed and his bride Francine for a great night.

Roger.

It was a treat to see Ed Sohls Bench. That room was full of Slot Car Racing history.

OK fully rested now after being abused by the "families" at RetroPalooza 5.  LOL

If the kind of abuse I got at this race was to be considered bad then I wish it on all of you at very race since this was the smoothest event I have been at and I have been to almost all of them.

Thanks to Port Jeff Raceway for being a great host and to the super staff led by good ol Doug "Bent Rim" Bauer.

It was great to see many new faces and hear how happy they were with the event.

I'm working on the report and as soon as all of the FBI photos are sent to me I'll get it out.

And once again to the Retro East Crew, thanks for the Thank You card and gift!

Had a blast this weekend. I was struggling pretty hard finding speed on Friday and that's when Greg accepted me as part of his team, and I couldn't be happier. Greg, Matt, Chris and I worked really well together this weekend. Thanks too all of you.

Doug has proven time and time again that he is one of the best raceway owners out there. I wouldn't know what I'd do without him.

Chubby is the man. He has taught me the little things that it takes to go fast. He has been there for me since I started racing , and I consider him a good friend.

And thanks to noose, and everyone else for making this weekend run super smoothly, and without flaw.

I walked away with one podium, so I'm happy, even though my Saturday mishap is something that I will not be forgetting anytime soon. Stupid set screws.

And we were missing around 10 folks that were there Friday and could not make it Saturday when this pic was taken before the Can-Am race.

I'm glad Haruki was wearing his official event T-shirt. I don't remember anyone posting a picture of the logo, but it was really cool... like a zombie gangster with a Tommy gun. Doug comes up with some pretty neat stuff for his big events.

What a great event! Thank you noose for the hard work you do putting this thing together

Preston, the stock car was fantastic, a little more ponys and we would of had them, i keep telling everyone that if you can put together 8
Good heats you would be tuff to beat. Just need to focus on driving smooth compared to when you have to push the car, you will get it, and when that day comes it wont leave you

Haruki, ty for the can am chassis from kamo san,
Car was excellent and look forward to seeing you soon

Edsel, where to start, from when ive started racing to date, you have been nothing but a father figure an great friend to me, the F1 car was unbelievable! Im glad i got you the win with your chassis, theres no one else that deserves it more than you, througout the years we have had a lot of good times and i hope it continues, love you bro

Brian Xpro, some of you might think of him as the new guy, but to me, he had taught me soooo much about slot cars, from setting up cars to driving, this guy is one of the best and its only a matter of time before he is at the top, myself erkle and brian would sit for countless hours and try stuff and he would always come out with the best ideas, thanks also for pitting me in can am and f1, you were a huge part of the sucsess

Thanks to everyone who came, it was great to see old faces and some new, i look forward to seeing everyone soon
