The Ohio Retro KOR Series will be making a few changes for the 2014-15 season. After taking a close look at last season and reviewing racer comments the BoD is hoping these changes will make Season #2 of the Kings of Retro Series even better.
Reluctantly we have decided to drop the Retro FCR class. The lack of motors and RTR cars has critically damaged this class. Since there is nothing the BoD can do about these shortages we felt we had no other choice. At least two of the member raceways (Tom Thumb Hobbies and T/R Motorplex) will be continuing to run Retro FCRs in their "house" races however.
The BoD is not yet ready to give up on Retro Anglewinders as we feel they still have a place in Retro racing. Entries are still not what we hoped for unfortunately. Moving the class to first in the lineup helped last year. Hopefully the following changes will help even more. The new Can-Am Plus cars will be approved to run with the Retro Anglewinders and all cars will run the Pro Slot 4002FK motor. If you have been running in the Retro Anglewinder class then all you will need to do is change to the new motor. The $14.00 sealed motor should make the racing closer and the economics much easier for the racers. And those who wanted to run something a little faster but didn't want to build an Anglewinder can just run their Can-Am Plus chassis.
Both Can-Am and F1 will continue to run IRRA® rules as written. Tire size on the F1 will continue to be a track option with T/R and Mark's allowing .790"/.040" and Tom Thumb running .812"/.050" unless otherwise posted.
In addition we are adding the Retro Flexi class back into the program. It will be a track option class and run last. No points will be earned but there will be awards at each race exactly like the other classes.
Many of you have noticed that this year we will be running an additional race at Mark's Model World to make a total of six races in the series, two at each track. The exciting news is that we will be running on Mark's brand new Gerding G19 King. Points this season will be based on your best 4 out of 6 races. In other words you will have 2 drops.
Stay tuned for more information AND remember the first race is just around the corner. September 6, 2014, at T/R Motorplex in Miamisburg, OH.
The daily lineup will be announced very shortly.

Any ideas on Retro Flexi rules? I looked on the IRRA website and they aren't there anymore. This might be good to use for T/R's Thur. races.

Running the AW's and CA+'s together is a nice idea. It gives the guys with Anglewinders a place to run that car. It gives the guys who want to try the new class a chance to experiment. And it will be a chance to see which configuration is faster in a rules environment that is friendly to both.
