I zoomed in on the article and it looks like the address is 721 Pacific Coast Hwy. I know about where that is, but I don't remember a slot track. But

by 1967 I was into real cars and I probably wouldn't notice a slot track. Especially when there were so many.

I think I saw Neil Young on a tv train show and he explained his interest in Lionel.    He had a big Lionel track and was a hobbyist.  He also had several kids that were special needs and  the Lionel operating system they had or that he   was involved in allowed the kids to run the trains.

They were probably out of business by 1967.

Dont know if this has been posted before but I ran across this pic of the rock band Buffalo Springfield racing slot cars in 1967 (and you thought they were only famous for the music).

I believe only Stephan Stills, Neil Young and Ritchie Furay are the only living remaining original members (Jim Massina is still alive... I believe). I know a person that has a bootleg of a "concert" of the living members that was recorded at Neil Young's ranch several years ago. There wasn't any "post processing on the recording. They sounded good.
