A lot of enthusiasts over the years have wished there was a really great printed slot car magazine that covered the breadth of the hobby. The good news is that their wish seems to be coming true.
Model Cars Magazine publisher Gregg Hutchings has announced a new magazine for the slot car hobby called Slot Cars Magazine, with an anticipated first issue dated January 2015. The magazine will be a bi-monthly, i.e. published six times a year.
Hutchings states that he is "committed to bringing you the best slot car magazine you have ever seen!" Since he has chosen Slotblog member and multi-talented painter and builder Jairus Watson as the editor for the new publication, that's a promise that likely will be fulfilled.
I know Jairus has begun looking for contributors for the new magazine, so contact him if you've always wanted to see your name in print.
Best of luck to Gregg and Jairus in their new publishing venture!

That's great news!!! I hope their focus will be on 1/24 scale since there are already mags that focus mainly on 1/32 plastic cars.

The one thing we can agree on is the mag will not be just for one scale or car type/class. And it will be a true hands-on how to guide for building and modifying.
Pick up a Model Cars Mag sometime and you will get an idea.
New Products page.
HO column.
Retro racing column.
How to: _____.
Feature car.
Collectable column.
Restoration article.
1/32 cars new on the market.
Hopefully something for everyone.
Maybe now and then a theme issue concentrating on: Ferrari, Chaparral, Porsche... insert your fav idea.
At least that's the way it's going so far.
Of course we can't do it all by our little selves. We need contributors who can take good high resolution pictures and write well. That's were the members of Slotblog come in.

Model Cars Mag is $5.50 an issue so it's a pretty good guess this one will be same.

Having prior experience in niche publication is a huge plus for sure. Jairus's flavorful insight with the magazine will be huge as it is with the Model Car Magazine / Forum.

Guidelines?
Good quality pictures being pretty much the one and only. Any script can be rewritten if need be, but I guess lack of high quality photos are the paramount reason most articles are rejected from MCM.

Hi Jairus,
Will there be a place for building vintage cars from the "Dawn of Time" through the "Golden Age" (early 1960's through early 1970's)?

ALWAYS!
As long as I am the editor, the vintage builds will be the feature cars Rick.

Finally! Excellent news! I love magazines, it is so nice to go back in issues and reread articles or find howtos etc.etc.
I will definetely be a subscriber!
Look at the magazine "Fine Woodworking" as an example on a classy magz. I been a subscriber for 15yrs now and that is because it's such a nice magazine.
Paper magz have a future, I'm certain!
Best wishes with this venture!
