50 years of doing this stuff and I've never seen enough cheating or cheaters to worry about.
Then again, it's some humans nature to stick something into a calm hornet's nest just to see what happens.
I'd have to agree if this were the 60's where you were admired for what is now called cheating. With no rules about horsepower, you wre admired for going faster with your motor. Not so today for obvious reasons. We can NEVER return to the 60's. Cheating has always been a curse of Slot racing since the 60's. Those who perceive they have no chance on a heavily slanted scale get discouraged and give up. I'm for keeping all new interested racers in the game. Its something every racer needs to contend for.

Then again, it's some humans nature to stick something into a calm hornet's nest just to see what happens.
Just like when the Retro Hawk came out and someone on FB, who business was impacted by the success of the motor, assured the FB World that there was rampant cheating already going on with previous FK motors.
Yet no reports of racers getting caught.
So unless the cheaters reported in to this mope, bragging about their success, it's as you say, "shaking up the hornet's nest" for their own amusement and trying to make the rest of the World as miserable as they are.

You're right. No one will be caught simply because the tech table isn't up to the task. I haven't actually seen or heard of any motor tear downs recently to prove or disprove. Most likely never will. Its the PERCEPTION of those who get discouraged. As if we need more racers to quit for more noble reasons than this.
It should be a fairly simple fix to make distinquishable, physical idenifiers to separate the two motors and problem is solved.

Cheating has always been a curse of Slot racing since the 60's.
A rather grandiose statement no doubt based on eyewitness reports on Fox News.

I don't stock the Hawk 7, but if it noticeably lighter, I'm pretty sure a light motor that was fast would warrant a dewinding.
Not sure if there is any official procedure in the SCCRA books, but I certainly know there is something in place in the IRRA® rules for anyone that wants to protest a suspect motor.

I like Greg and Greta. I'm not a fan of everyone on FN. Unfortunately they probably are fairly clueless as to the drama going on in the slot car world

The newer Retro Hawks are lasered engraved with an "R".

Since motors are attached by screws in SCRRA, it should be simple to remove the motor and weigh it. minus the pinion. A half gram is very significant difference if that can be proven between the two. I'm not the one to be talking to about that. No Mill, I can't be a SCRRA board member. Terry lives down the street tho....

^^^This, and a lot of other bitching about motors, bodies, etc.^^^. Probably why I did find a new hobby. One last race, the Coupes at the Checkpoint and thats it. I like a bunch of the guys at BPR, so will miss slots tho.
That, and I wasn't very fast.

As I mentioned earlier in the 1st post here, some lightweight bodies have been showing up at BPR recently. If any are seen at the Checkppoint tech table they may warrant a closer inspection and if necessary the simple addition of some tape to add rigidity and a little weight.
