Basic slot car tools video

Our most recent video is inspired by questions that come up often at the track, particularly from new racers joining our hobby. What kind of tools do I need?
Our latest video, Racing Tools Part 1 the Basics, is an overview of the basic tools that a racer needs in their pit box to service or repair their slot car.
I hope that this answers those question in an informative and interesting way.
Enjoy!

Clover Leaf Racing also provides a mailorder service and they're great to deal with. The 24 hour endurance races for 1/32 plastic chassis cars has been held on their club track.
Dave should also post this video on the 1/32 boards (SCI & HRW) since much of his info applies more to club/home racing rather than commercial racing.

I have it posted on HRW but it is on Clover Leaf's club page.
I didn't want to be "that guy" and do multiple postings in the forums.
But if you didn't see the post there perhaps I should link to it in the 1/32 forum.

Don, sorry I posted your first name as Dave. I worked with a fellow named Dave Walker in Framingham, MA from 1969-78 and I guess I just lost my head.

Bill,
I see how you mistook his name. The guy in the video is Dave but Don made and posted it. It confused me too because the way it reads it sounds like it is Don in the video. I'm pretty sure this is the same Don who makes all the Michigan 24 videos.

Jim,
Yes, Diane and I make the MI 24 hour videos. Will we see you at the race again this year?
I hope that all is well.

The video came out very good and thanks for the link to the torque wrenches.

Hi Don,
Yes, I will be there again this year. Hopefully we will be a lot more competitive this year. We think we have some pretty good running cars.
I was hoping you and Diane would make it down to see my track.

When I purchasd my torque wrench it worked good for me out of the box. I tighten until it "clicks" twice and then stop and haven't had anything loosen up.
Everybody uses it a little differently, some tighten until it clicks twice and then hold the end while tightening to give the set screw just a little more snug.
But there is a set screw on the tool that allows the torque to be customized for your individual preference. Setting the tool becomes more of a feel thing of how you want it to perform.

We are trying to get down there. Diane says that we might be going down in a couple of weeks. If we do I will definitely let you know.
Glad to hear you guys are liking your cars this year. It is shaping up to be a really competitive field. Should make for a good story.
Best,
