I am always the skeptic, but after attaching Tenacious Tape and body pins using E6000 glue onto several of my bodies and racing them last night, I am convinced! :)

I removed the one-piece brass and stainless steel pin tubes from my Champion Turbo-Flex chassis (the chassis we run out here) and soldered in four short 1" pieces of brass tubing.

I was scared that the bodies would come loose using the straight pins and that they would not survive a crash or deslotting, but to my surprise, everything worked perfect.

I am convinced that the handling capabilities of my cars improved immensely using John's method.  :)

Thanks for the tip, John.

Great, Ron.

The standard pins, not the big head pins do give more movement (smaller dia.). And must be perfectly straight as well as removing the burrs on the cut-off pin tubes.

Plus is you don't lose pins and they won't pull through the body, and body can be removed and replaced very fast.

The shorter-sided bodies such as retro F1s and GTPs, etc., will of course need shorter pins to be able to easily remove and replace the body, but right, Ron, they won't come off...I wreck tested that real fast... LOL.

This method to glue the pins to the body is found in the Retro racing/Retro tuning tips and tricks thread. Page 2, post #50.

Your "system" also worked a treat on my G12-powered Bull Dog 3 chassis.  :)

The colored tape is ripstop with fabric material.

I had a Dymo embossing labelmaker when I was a kid and started using this stuff in the late '80s. Only peeled a few times and used 3M double-sided tape to reattach to body. Pretty bulletproof IMO!

Look at THIS on eBay.

You can also buy Tenacious Tape at Gander Mountain stores. I've used this tape for several years and it is great.

It's only negative is that it does "wear out" after a good bit of usage. Meaning the pin holes will get larger with use.

For you guys that use a body only once this will be no problem at all. If you use the body multiple times you might need to put an additional layer on to keep the pin hole "small."

This is my latest find..at Walmart in the section where you'll find the shelf paper there's a product called clear laminate ( peel and stick ) ..It's a 35' x 18" roll for approx.$5.00... It's 2.5 mill thick..very thin very, very sticky..works as good as the tape..this stuff is made by the Duck Tape company..I use this stuff down the whole sides of my thin bodies on the outside front to back , top to bottom leaving @ 1/4 " long on the bottom folded under for more pin hole reinforcement .i cut off the excess at top of sides of body with curved sissors.
This stuff will not tear like a body material will. If you still want a more permanent pin hole put small piece of the reinforcement stuff over each pin hole then add the side tape..Then I cut out the fender wells last..
Yep you still have all your body flex without ripping the bodies up..
