These wheel inserts are for Strombecker 1/32 kit cars with aluminum wheels, though I am not sure which cars they were meant for. Specifically I am wondering if any of these were for the Barracuda. I don't have a complete set so may have to get some cloned unless they are available somewhere ?

The top photo shows inserts for the Lotus 30/40. The second photo shows inserts for Porsche prototypes

like the 906, 907, 910 and 917. The third photo shows what appear to be American Racing mags.

They were available in plastic boxes with each type listed on a header card.

Gary, here is how they came in the package. Oddly, only two of each came in the package with two 2 prong and 2 3 prong knockoffs forcing you to buy 2 packages to make a set of 4 of any given setup.

One reason Strombecker marketing never worked...for the customer.

We are getting somewhere, and soon we will have the answers , but now we have more questions! The top 2 inserts from the package are the American racing mags and are different from the American racing mags shown on the chassis in my bottom photo. The packaged ones are, lets say "Star fish shape" and the ones installed in wheels,  have a flat chromed disk backing plate. I'm assuming one of these types was included in the Cheetah custom kit so if that is true , which one, and was one of these types included in the Barracuda custom kit.

I have no idea what the 6 spoked inserts were used for, shown in the 2nd row of the packaged ones.

The third row of the packaged ones looks like the reddish ones I photograghed, installed on a chassis in my 3rd photo. I'm thinking they look more like Ferrari wheels and possibly included with the Dino custom kit or P3 ?

The fourth row of packed inserts looks like the Porsche Carrera 6.

Does anyone have any of the Custom kits built or unbuilt to verify if they came with inserts? And now 1 more question, is there a stock # on the package ?

1st generation hubcaps. 1963
"Model Road and Raceways" is a small independent label dedicated to offer generic parts. Among its parts can be found aluminum wheels.

Meanwhile, Strombecker of Dowst presents a branch parts competition among which are remarkable brass chassis guide Ackermann and "ACCESORY GROUP COMPETITION" consisting of steel crown, screw shaft threaded steel and aluminum wheels. However these wheels do not allow the use of hubcaps, which will quickly be replaced the following year.

2nd generation hubcaps. 1963-1965.

"Model Road and Raceways" is absorbed by Strombecker Corporation ( Model Road and Raceways División ) and some of the supplies are assumed by Strombecker with some correction so that all parts are compatible.

In this second generation the star is the Scuttler motor. There are a huge number of variants of engine, chassis, crowns etc.

The original MRaR wheels are assumed by Strombecker, because like others like Revell MRRC or allow the use of hubcaps.

One of the supplies are 7/8 inch wheel 2º generation hubcaps ( ref 8339 ).
Another supplies are hubcaps for wheels of 1/2 inch 2º generation hubcaps( 9042 ).

Besides the size, STROMBECKER provides a vague information about the fate of these hubcaps.

We must assume a generic character, but as fans know 1/1 must identify which of the Porsche RS-61 etc ...

A curious but important fact ... all these hubcaps are not included in the standarts series units of Strombecker, but are distributed as replacements for Strombecker.

The only exception is the case of (s20) Mercedes-Benz W154 GP'38 using a hubcap and some brackets that previously existed as a spare.

3rd generation hubcaps. 1965-1967.
Is closed generation engines TC-32 (and 300 Hemi) folding chassis with brass etc.

There is also a new generation of aluminum wheels, but Gary has already been noticed that the hubcaps are not supported. Indeed the "mag style" used in (s22) Bill Thomas'Cheetah'63 have the same aesthetic, but are not compatible with aluminum rims 2nd generation.

On this occasion, hubcaps 3rd generation are more specific to each model. Each new model comes with its own hubcaps.

I have yet to test 100%, but I think ...

(s24) Chaparral 2A´65

3º generation hubcaps only in TC-32 motorkits and customkits.

careful with any official image of STROMBECKER ... is taken from the version 1/24.

you may also exist as a critical piece mirror, but I can not confirm.

Please, if anyone has evidence to confirm this saying so.

Here you can see the chrome tree (incomplete) of this model, also with some fruit as the rearview mirror, a piece certainly very unknown.

3º generation hubcaps only in TC-32 motorkits, customkits, blister competition kit, Indy 500 set circuit and Cumberland set circuit.

I have not yet clear whether these same hubcaps are used in (s30) Brawner Hawk Indy'66, set cumberland circuit and blister competition kit.

Here you can see these hubcaps mistakenly mounted in the photo presentation (s26) Dino 166 / P [0834] Berlinetta'65

Thank Jairus,

I am currently cataloging all those parts of "model Road and Raceways" mark before being absorbed into the Strombecker Corporation. This is quite complicated because spare parts are rare. The company was very small and there are few of these.

Regarding the third era of hubcaps STROMBECKER, I even think I know what the hubcaps of (s24) Chaparral 2A'65 and (s28) Ferrari 365 P2 [0882] spyder'65, but just missing me confirm to have the absolute security.

So far, to me is " any hubcaps or not in (s30) Brawner Hawk Indy'66 " the great hubcaps question theme . I still do not know if there are specific hubcap this model or not or if you use the same mate (s27) Lotus 38 Indy'65.

If someone has the pamphlet assembly instructions (s30) Brawner Hawk Indy'66, or Cumberland competition circuit or blister kit, please contact me.

I just found these and they are likely from the Chaparral roadster kit. The chrome has mostly disappeared and the rear view mirror is different from the rectangle one found on the ready to run car.

Besides these, since I now know that I have 2 inserts from the Dino kit, I searched out the rest to the parts to build up a complete car except I still need 2 more inserts ! I will probably have some Lotus inserts to trade !
