Here are the qualifying numbers...

GTC-FK

difference between qualifier 1 and 8 = 0.164 secs
difference between qualifier 1 and 16 = 0.241 secs

GTC-Pro

1-8 = 0.088 secs
1-16 = 0.434 secs

Can-Am

1-8 = 0.109 secs
1-16 = 0.177 secs

F1

1-8 = 0.131 secs
1-16 = 0.243 secs

It's a little harder to tabulate the closeness using laps, but this one example should suffice.

This is the top part of the combined results by lap total after the Can-Am Sub-Mains.

Just ten laps covers the first 16 drivers and the first three drivers have the same lap total to the tenth of a lap! The first eight drivers are spread over just 2.8 laps.

What other genre of slot racing besides Retro has such close competition?

Gregory Wells

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Don't know the point you are trying to make but here is your data that I recapped from looking at Bill's photos.

In GTC-Pro there was 1 out of the 16. Of course the GTC-FK class was a hand-out race.

In Can-Am there were 3 out of 57 entrants. Not one racer who made the Main changed from a PD to a Hawk Retro and one changed from a Hawk Retro to a PD.

In Formula 1 there were 10 out of 40 entrants since some preferred the PD's different power band and more brakes.

We ran at approximately 14.2 volts and there were no blown motors during the event. I for one ran the same motor in GTC for one race and then for two races in Can-Am. I used the same motor for all three races in the Formula 1 class.
