Hi Folks,

The other day I posted a pic of an unknown ferrari 158 body that while close to the Cox, was a little different.  Jairus spotted it as a Strombecker.  Well, I've found another unknown one.  Test yourselves on the pic below

Ok, left to right: the unknown body, Cox, Strombecker, Atlas/Marusan BRM (I'll explain why that's there later) and a Tokyo Plamo

Here's a pic from underneath:

Now you can see why I put that Marusan body there.  The post on the unknown body looks to be placed the same as in the Marusan.  I suspect this body originally had some cockpit detail that was cut out.  Can anyone identify it?

Regards,

I believe you answered your own question Steve.
This is out of Oliver's wonderful book on "The 60's of Slot-Racing".  Well worth the price to me.

I don't think Atlas offered a 1/24th Ferrari.

I've never seen an Atlas ferrari either, but I'm not sure Marusan didn't make one.  Does either animal exist?

Could be a Swiss Kitty, which seems to be a rebranded Otaki... in fact, are you sure that the one on the right is a Tokyo Plamo? That's what I thought the Kitty Ferraris were using, but seems it's an Otaki... also with motor on edge.

Hi Don,

A lot of people mix up the tokyo plamo and Otaki.  The main difference is the Tokyo Plamo has a drop arm. I couldn't lay my hands on an Otaki, so here's a pic I pinched from another post:

I also realised I hadn't included the Midori.  So before someone suggests that, here's one of them as well, next to a Cox

And from underneath:

None of those seem to match, so unless anyone has evidence that the Atlas car (or Marusan equivalent) was ever released, I'm still stumped.

Atlas cataloging referenced.  No 1/24th Ferrari open wheel car listed.

If they didn't sell one that would be the only evidence left ... ya'know?

The Atlas/Marusan/Faller is in 1/32nd.

I'll dig out my 158s and take a few pictures.

According to the Model Car magazine article there are 2 more Japanese made 158s by Kogure and Nitto.

As I have neither, unable to show any pictures.

I didn't mention the Kogure because that's a much larger car.  I don't have a nitto, but there's a pic in the LASCM and you can see that it's different around the cockpit. You can find it here: http://lascm.com/Slo...roducts_id=6706

Any chance Marusan made one that they didn't share with Atlas?
