Don't forget about the new Potbellies sub shop opening right next door... The best IHMO. :good: :good:

Bernie,

Unlike the Hardee's a few blocks down, they are really hustling.

Just talked to a girl in the parking lot, taking job applications, and she said it looks like Sept. 26 on the grand opening.

Is there a Portillo's close by? I will need to get my fix before heading back one way or the other.

We'll have Portillo's Italian/pasta/salad on Saturday.

For dogs, beef, burgers, etc., there are two, about 15 minutes away, in two different directions.

We usually go to the Downers Grove one after Saturday night racing.

Top racer, Les Chase, came by the raceway, last night, to pick up a few things.

He's working in the area, and barring disaster, plans to race at the Sano.

Yes.

I remember seeing the qualifying results from a GTC-FK race and thinking it was a misprint.

It's amazing how well he does, racing a few times a year.

I guess, once you've raced at Elmsford, you can race anywhere, anytime. LMAO

Anyway, he volunteered that the Retro Hawk really helps making his part time status, and being competitive, possible.

And results in some close racing, as shown in last Saturday's Retro East race. Four racers within a lap and a half going into the last heat. Wowzers!

They made it open time today.

My picture doesn't do it justice, the madhouse it is.

I took the pic and walked down to the Mexican joint.

Pictured is Rick Stagen and few other USSCA guys, who are doing a nice job breaking in the King, and a cleaned and sprayed (yesterday) Flat track.

No chance of that.

He's already got a part time gig there when he's not racing at the Sano.

He put on his resume that he can squirt mayo with the best of 'em.

Did some more autonomous track break in earlier, while racers ran the flat track.

It paid off in the Wednesday night stamped race, as Neal broke the total lap record again and also beat Lee's single lap record time.

We also had a wing race, so after race, Retro practice was limited.

In that short time, Howie put down a real nice 4.448 on green.

Earlier in the day, on the flat track, he also set what probably was record times, with a 4.97 with his F1, and a 4.82 with his Can-Am.

Mike, will there be any broadcast on "the ol' interweb"?

Sorry about the nerf. "Sorry? Sorry? There's no apologizing in slot car racing!"

Besides, where would I even begin?   I should probably start with my wife ...

"I don't often get very many "fast laps" but I very often get many laps quickly."

The only thing I know about slot cars is if I had a good time when I leave the building! I can count the times I didn't on one two three hands!

Nice, I will look forward to watching a little.

Good luck to all the racers attending this year. You all have fun. Wish I could have been there.

Best wishes to good friend Greg Fox, who had to travel all alone. But he will be ready to race.

Good will to all, Keep it in the grove.

Ross is supposed to be by later.

Not many locals here yet, but 14 are at the raceway at the moment.

Howie's run high 4.4's with three more motors, KVP has been 4.58 with a coupe, Les, 4.60 with a coupe, and Ralph had a 4.57 with an F1 with a PD.

Almost there... had to stop on I80/90 at the rest area after South Bend, so about 40 miles out according to the GPS. Sure am tired of all the driving I've done the last couple of days...

But I did make it to one museum yesterday in Richmond, IN, and three today in Auburn, IN, including the ACD museum, easily one of the top three or five auto museums anywhere.

See you guys shortly.

Hi Cheater,

As long as you are visiting museums, you are welcome to come by my house and view the pile of slot cars and other assorted junk. I'm 40 minutes east of Mike's track.

Mark.
